Yet another

I caught Claude Code "lying" to me this morning. This is a gentle reminder that while these kinds of tools are both capable and useful, they are also incredibly flawed and lack any kind of actual intelligence.

In Paris today for Newcrafts where I held a TDD-workshop in the morning slot. Good times and now I get to enjoy the rest of the conference in peace 😁 I think this tie is still my absolute favourite and it really shines in the Haddon knot.

. Went a bit advanced with an Intrinity knot today. It's essentially a Penrose knot tied on top of a Trinity knot - long ties only 😅 Neon Oni's latest new album Nihilism is blasting out of the speakers today. Bonus pics from TDC in Trondheim where I was on Monday.

Time for another#tieday again. The beard is getting a bit long so I'm off to trim it (and the hair) in an hour. Tie is tied in a Rachel knot, named after the inventor's wife. Have a nice day!

in Borås today. Me and two of my colleagues are attending a conference about digital product passes in textile. Very exciting since I know practically nothing about this. Oh and I'm sporting an Eldredge knot today. The tie is from Stenströms, but that's as much as I know about its origins.

When coding with agentic AI I feel I'm missing out on the inherent design review that comes with writing APIs and structuring code. Just reviewing generated code doesn't trigger the same reflection on the design as writing it myself - and I don't just auto-accept changes without review

Consistency in your APIs matters. Inconsistent naming and a lack of conventions increase cognitive load and can be a source of footguns. I'm going to call out Microsoft's provided tasks in AzureDevOps as a bad example of this (the same goes for much of Azure, by the way).

When using
#CodingAgents

, remember to snapshot often (then rebase everything into neat commits once you're ready). Also, be aware of the sunk cost fallacy; sometimes it's better to abandon and start over instead of trying to prompt your way out of a rabbit hole.

I've seen a lot of posts since the announcement that the TypeScript compiler is being reimplemented in Go, arguing why Go is or is not a good choice. I like Rust. Rust is often my go-to language if I get to choose, and I've never really liked Go.

Trinity knot for
#tieday
today. I really like how it looks with striped ties! For some reason, the stripes almost always line up to form a triangle in the knot. I wonder if the angle for necktie stripes is standardised or if everyone happens to pick 45 degrees out of habit.

How bad would it be for your business if relations between the US and the EU worsen or even break down completely? The US hyperscalers have been the easy hosting choice for quite a while now, which means that many businesses have grown an unhealthy dependency on them for survival.
