Happy Wednesday! Lots of chaos happening today, but I did manage to start a new project using yarn that I bought at Rhinebeck last year. Here’s a sneak peek. What ever shall it be? 😉

Finally back to civilization. This camp was wild. It rained, and rained some more, and then rained harder. We were cold, wet, & sleep-deprived. We also didn’t kill each other, so mission successful! My little tent doesn’t look like much but that inside layer stayed dry and bug-free. Total win.

Drove down to my favorite book/yarn/game store to get camping supplies. Yes, yarn and a book are a must if you’re going to spend a weekend in the woods with no internet. The yarn will become fingerless gloves and the book sounded intriguing. The two matching was a happy accident. 😍

Last week I had permanent eyeliner done, which basically means they tattooed my eyelids, and tattoo aftercare goes along with that. I’m now in the “itchy” phase of tattoo healing and that hits worse on your eyes. 😆

I have become addicted to the Dungeon Crawler Carl book series over the past couple of months. Hubs and I have been listening to the audiobook and Jeff Hays is one of the best VA I’ve ever heard. Highly recommend the audiobooks if you’re on the fence. We just started book 7 tonight.

Tonight I’m chilling in a Hard Rock Hotel room, listening to the in-room music channel while doing some intricate stitching. Me: “Remember when Hard Rock used to play music that was actually popular?” Hubs: “That is the most old-person thing I’ve ever heard you say.” He’s right.

Life update: one more trip to TN this week to close on my in-law’s house and deal with probate court matters. It’s been a long road to get here but we finally are nearing the end. I hope to get back to podcasting in October, just in time for Fiber Festival season. 🧶

Knitty has it right. Funny enough, when I was in the planning for my podcast, I kept getting advice to use AI for scripting, for graphics, for subject matter, whathaveyou. No thanks. I’d rather be my authentic weird self, and I’d rather consume real content from real people.

Really can’t wait for life to normalize again. This week we are out of state AGAIN doing a final cleanout on my in-laws house and getting it on the market. I am waiting for this late summer heat to break because after we get this settled I want a slow, cozy, cool fall.

Welp. RSV and bronchitis have put a crimp in this week’s plans. Had to get tested for pneumonia as well, they said its negative “for now”. 🙄 This is the worst I have ever felt. I could deal with the congestion, but the fever/chills/aches are what is kicking my ass.

Figured out a nice life hack: a recumbent bike is a pretty decent place to get some knitting done. I looped a little bag around one of the side handles to hold the yarn balls so they don’t go all over the floor. Add in an audiobook to listen to and it’s a multitasking dream. Rigby approves.

Went to Michaels today and struggled mightily to not bring a disco cat home. $25 is a bit steep but as soon as they go on sale, I might be back.

This little dude has consumed the last two days at our house. His name is Jasper, and he is the tiniest, cuddliest, purriest baby ever. He will set up camp on your chest or tummy and just hang out for hours.

I know everybody is talking about the Poop Cruise documentary on Netflix, but if I may recommend a more heartwarming one, also on Netflix: The Quilters, about a restorative justice program where prisoners make quilts for foster kids. I’d love to see a series like this.

This is a weird season in my life. In the past couple of months and today specifically I’ve had to say goodbye to people I love, current and former employers, places I’ve lived, and now an actress whose character I enjoyed. I guess the end of one chapter means the beginning of another, but damn.
