Got to admit, could get used to this. A rather huge internal debate is going on within me, namely why didn't I move back here a couple of decades ago? The wife would have come then too, just was too busy defining myself in a certain way to see the opportunity at hand.

Very sad news today to hear that Val Kilmer has passed away. I always gravitated towards his films, Top Secret, Heat and Tombstone being among the greats. The smaller and unsung Spartan is always worth looking out for, a tense thriller with some brutal scenes.

I miss this wee guy!

We watched #SupermanII Donner cut last night and I have to say I think it isn't good. Sometimes a thing you loved should remain in the memory. Reeve is amazing of course, but the script is shoddy, it was clearly made on a budget even for those times and it just is a bit silly. Hurts me to say it!

Just came across this astonishingly badly written review of Innuendo, the last #Queen album completed before Freddie died. While it is slightly sneery and snobbish there are a couple of lines in there that hit a little harder with the knowledge of what was to come shortly after the album's release.

I may have just ordered this rather spiffing looking #Queen album, not entirely sure it is a properly licensed one but you know, looks a bit of alright really!

Having moved back to Australia in 2022 I can honestly say I can't think of a bigger no brainer than actually giving indigenous people a guaranteed voice to parliament both at state and federal level. It risks nothing, it acknowledges the past and embraces a better future.

If you want to get into the works of Gaiman with a view of condemning him for something other than the appalling behaviour he has shown towards women then you are missing the point. We don't need to do that, his behaviour is ample.

Just had the response from a job I went for. Well, guess there is a next time.

So annoying when you get encouraged to go for a job, people talk to you about what you will do in the job and how good you would be at it and then you don't even get an interview. Oh well, on to the next one I guess.

Very sad to hear the news today of the loss of Tony Slattery, a genuinely funny man who lit up screens whenever he appeared. Clearly blighted by mental health issues for years, before emerging from them in recent times only to be taken at the young age of 65. He was a singular talent.

I can't begin to say how utterly appalled and angry I am about the revelations regarding Neil Gaiman. Here was a man I admired, whose work I enjoyed immensely. To find he is an abusive arsehole of the worst kind is a betrayal of every fan he had. My heart goes out to the women he abused.

Went to breakfast today and the place upset my middle class sensibilities. Eggs Benedict does not come with spinach, and you do not charge extra for bacon or smoked salmon. What you have there is Eggs Florentine, Eggs Royale and Eggs Benedict. Three different dishes. This was my Ted Talk!

Just watched #TheAbyss with the wifelet. Her first time ever seeing it. SE version of course. Nice to be reminded of a classic. With distance between viewing and having seen Aliens recently you can spot the style Cameron had in the 80s a mile off. Huge fun, great film.

We watched The Fall Guy the other night, first time. That was a fun film and deserved to do so much better than it did. Really enjoyed it, the nods and the meta nature of it all completely worked.

You know that feeling when you have applied for a position and so far you haven't heard anything when you were given a serious hint that you would hear something?

This day three years ago I made the first of several legs that took me from Dunoon in Scotland to Melbourne. It was probably the most pleasurable international journeys I have ever made, but then I spent a lot on it so it should have been!

Tell you something, #Instagram searchnis a messed up place. I rarely actually use it but when I do the content is really weird, and in places upsetting. If that is what isnreadily available I would be hesitant to let any child I was responsible for use it. It's like peeking behind a curtain.

I bought The Terminator 4K release last week and we watched it last night. It is a stunning transfer, so crisp and clean. There are issue with the film, dated in places, eminently forgivable budget issues with special effects and very dated music. Still a stone cold classic though.

The lady and I were at a friend's 60th Birthday last night in Melbourne. Was a fun and enjoyable night. I think we scrub up pretty well!

I think the absolute genius of this post by Rod Stewart is calling him "Greg". Of course Rod may not know the history but if he does this is sheer burn. Also, this revelation should surprise nobody.

Well, a few actually! George Galloway springs to mind but also weirdly Kirstie Alley (rip) and my personal favourite, Rob Liefeld. The last one is a bit niche but was a fun one.

A guy I have been a mutual with on Twitter has been a fascinating case of self radicalisation. He started as just a Conservative guy, centre right and decent. Now his timeline is all Farage, Trump, basic racism and intolerance of anyone outside his current worldview. It is kind of sad to be honest.

I genuinely hope this place gets huge, and that eventually the other place is made irrelevant. Such a shame when someone radicalises themselves to the point he has, to further an agenda he is not even aware of.

Today is set to be 35 degrees. The rumours and predictions are that this is going to be a stinking hot summer, which would be our first since coming to Australia. Should be interesting!

I am going to try and be more active here now that the other place is rapidly filling with hate speech and basically awful behaviour.

It's been a couple of weeks now since Fang's illness put us in the position of having to say goodbye. Both of us still miss him keenly, it still hurts. His brother now occasionally looks for him and has become a lot more clingy than he was. Damn these loveable creatures!!

It is 8pm and 31 degrees. I am enjoying living in Australia again very much but now and then the sheer level of sweating you do just moving around can become a little much!!

Still getting used to the fact that Christmas is now a Summer event!

I should find out today about a job I went for. In two minds frankly as I have come to the conclusion that if I get it, great, also if I don't, I am OK with that. First time ambivalence has characterised this kind of situation.

The Loki season 2 finale is a cracker, no spoilers but a great culmination of a character arc. The statement by Hiddlestone that this was his last time round with Loki is both inevitable and a bit sad. I wanted to see him and Thor get their own conclusion. Still, what a show that was to go out on!

Can't really get across how disappointed I am in the result of the referendum here yesterday. Australia had a chance to take a step forward and instead it stood still at best, more like stepped backwards. Hopefully legislative measures will now be explored.

Terribly sad news today about the passing of Keith Giffen, a man whose talent was always on show no matter what book he was working on. A large number of films wouldn't have been made had it not been for his creative input. Truly another of the greats gone.

I just ate an apple as my mod morning snack. This adherence to the Slimming World plan is so far going well. Next up, lunch and the eternal temptation of the vending machine!!

Watching the replies and posts that Musk puts out on Twitter makes me think there will be a bad end for the site. He is clearly just not a pleasant person, and wholly wrong for him to be in charge like that.

We bought some lights for the outdoor eating area, so we had a BBQ and are enjoying a pleasant evening! Not too hot right now.

Was a rather lovely morning today. Spring in Australia comes with something it doesn't in Scotkand, genuine heat in the sun. It's interesting, you can feel the place winding the heat up day after day. Going to be a scorcher I suspect.

I went traditional when my wife asked me what cake I wanted. For a while I have hankered after a classic Victoria Sponge and so she obliged with a light and fluffy sponge filled with rather decadent Chantilly cream and raspberry jam. My goodness it was tasty. Still some left for today!
