While the visual differences between Mechwarrior 2 and MW2 Mercenaries may have been technical (flat shaded vs textured), I feel the distinct looks lend themselves really well to the Clans vs 3025 Inner Sphere aesthetics: clean pastel colors vs gritty, dirty desaturated browns

The vibes in Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries *really* set the tone that I've come to associate with 3025 era Battletech. I even loved the ambient sounds in dropships, Betty, and button clicking that I made a menu mod for Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries to give the game the real 'gritty' Succession War era
