If he goes, maybe the late goal is a dark blessing. Another “unlucky” 1-1 probably doesn’t move the needle but I think this may. Probably gonna give it Heitinga to the end of the season. Most likely brought in with one eye on that.

Worryingly I don’t think the players have downed tools. Just no ability to keep or progress the ball at pace means we are constantly out of shape and the defensive distances are wrong as well. If this keeps happening it’s no wonder individuals get disheartened constantly caught out of position

We’re easy to defend against and easy to attack against. It’s so poor and it’s embarrassing.

Villa’s ball progression through the lines only serves to illustrate how inept we are. You can see our players constantly looking over their shoulders and not being able to cover the angles. They just sit in their block and don’t move and we fail to trouble it.

There are currently 10 teams in League 1 who’ve played premier league football. That’s nearly half the league. Success and stability should never be taken for granted

A big facet of Brentford’s “success” under TF was a relentless physical pressure, keeping the ball alive and constantly asking questions of defences, both as individuals and collectively.

Tonight feels like an Ange watershed. Long rest, mostly full strength, time on the training pitch…no improvement. Defensively vulnerable throughout & minimal threat. Same failings. No doubts now that someone else could get more from these players. Doesn’t fix underlying issues but improves results

A thought..do the analysts paid to identify opposition weaknesses, also analyse weaknesses in our own team? If they do, I wonder how that plays out in practice? It’s logical they’d say, here are the gaps, work out how to fix them…but does that undermine the coaching team and Ange particularly?

After a long time being an Ange optimist I’m really seeing the signs now that it may have run its course. We’re still doing the things badly we’ve always done badly under him, now the things that used to be done well are being done badly too. That’s unsustainable and the reverse of progress.

This has probably already have been discussed and I missed it but…. What is the Bluesky equivalent of “tweeting” something? Skying? Blueing? There is obviously “posting” but that’s not specific to this site. My suggestion…Sky, like “that’s a great idea, I’m gonna Sky that” Thoughts?

The Fulham game feels like quite an important one for Ange and the squad. Home against a team we “should” beat after a tiring Thursday night. Does it further entrench the idea that we struggle to perform in these circumstances, or can we put together a strong showing & get a convincing result?

Greg Wallace being exposed as a bit of a wrong’un is definitely something I’ll be filing in the draw marked “things I could definitely see coming”

That is one heck of a one handed save from Vicario by the way.

Love seeing the way the midfield are jumping with aggression and tenacity from the mid block to engage. Makes all the difference to how compact we are and our ability to counter. All of them are doing it but Sarr particularly. Impressive.

Those lineups smell of a high scoring game. Going to be interesting how he deploys Deki and Madders. I suspect he will go a bit narrower than usual and try and free Son up to make line breaking runs.

This has to be up there as one of the quickest pieces of thinking ever from Dean Saunders to score a goal. Any better?

Hypothetically, 10 league games…. Would you rather win 8/10 stodgy & boring 1-0 type affairs, goals from set pieces or low block & counter. Or would you rather win 5 & lose 5, all thrillers, lots of goals, lead changes hands several times. 24 points vs 15 points but big entertainment difference

As someone who desperately wants Ange to work and be with us long term, I’ve asked myself the question…what does “success” for him really look like? Bridging the gap to regularly challenge for the league looks a chasm. Does what we’ve had before (the odd cup run and in the mix for 4th) cut it?

I’m going to try and be non reactionary and say this is all part where we are as a club, team and project. Plenty of growing up to do. You get what you deserve until you consistently do enough to deserve more.

I’d like to see the stats of goals kicking towards the South stand vs North. Feels like we get most kicking into the South in 2nd halves. Clutching at straws maybe!

I’m hoping this will age badly but feel like we could have a tougher afternoon than expected today. If Cuti is out, plus accumulated fatigue and thin bench, Ipswich have a shape and specifically a player (Delap) who could take advantage. Still going for a Spurs win, but by the odd goal in 5
