Searching for a recipe: my late mother's friend used to make what she called an apricot log. It was a pastry of some type, filled w/ chopped apricots, pecans, and maybe coconut. Rolled into a log about 12" long, maybe 2" wide, top slit, pecan halves between the slits, some kind of glaze. Anyone?

Missy will only eat a tiny bit at a time, which isn't terribly unusual, except that she no longer munches her dry food throughout the night, so I'm getting up every couple hours all night to put fresh food in her bowl. If that's what it takes to keep her going, I can do it. But I'm tired. Goodnight!

I was up before 9:30 this morning. I have rarely gotten up before 10 since I retired, and then usually only for an appointment & w/ an alarm set. But to spontaneously wake up at 9 and not be able to go back to sleep? Unheard of! I'm a night owl. I always hated working mornings. Preferred late shift.

Kiddo wanted a rum cake for his birthday, but I couldn't make it because I'd just had my surgery, so I got up this morning & made it. Never made one before. Seems like the recipe called for way too much glaze, it's gonna be a sodden mess if I use it all. I'm not a fan of rum. Tastes medicinal to me

Missy is eating a little better now that we are using the appetite stimulant. She hasn't had much interest in the kibble, so it has been mostly canned food, and mostly paté mixed with a gravy or bisque pouch. It's hard to say if she's eating as much as before she got sick. Weight check in 2 wks 🤞🏻

We had pizza for supper. I was really good and only ate 2 pieces. Now all I can think about is going into the refrigerator and getting another piece. It's not that I'm hungry. I just want it. Diabetes sucks

If someone can answer a dumb question for me, what do other states do that don't use signature matching? I've voted in NY my whole life: you give your name to the poll worker, sign, they compare your signature to the book (or now, the computer) & they hand you your ballot. How is it done elsewhere?

Feeling sad today. Found out last night that an old friend (since childhood) has pancreatic cancer & is in hospice care. She was in town 2 yrs ago but we weren't able to get together, which I regretted at the time & even more now "Make new friends, but keep the old One is silver, the other is gold"

Took Missy back to the vet today because she's barely eating. Her breathing is clear now, so we're d/c'ing the clavamox in case that's upsetting her stomach & making her not eat, and starting mirtazapine ointment to stimulate her appetite. I just want her to feel better! 😭💔
