We´re happy to announce that REDUCE will be participating in the 12th Edition of FOMACO, taking place in Nouakchott from 27–30 April 2026. We´ll be delivering 3 Side Events as part of this unique event of great relevance in West Africa concerning marine conservation and resources sustainability.

We’ll be there with @reduce-project.bsky.social , building together a roundtable on Marine Spatial Planning in West Africa, with invited experts and an open space for exchanging ideas on the region’s key challenges and opportunities.

Our colleagues at USC held another working session with the owners and captains of the OPP7-Burela long-distance pelagic fleet. We are conducting individual interviews with fishers to understand how #bycatch affects fishing operations, crew safety, and the economic performance of the fleet.

This week REDUCE has met with EU leading Fishing Producer Organizations (FPO) of long line fisheries from Galicia operating in waters of the East Central Atlantic Ocean to explore collaborative work between science and fishing industry on #ETPBycatchReduction measures in this maritime area.
