Male characters are often treated as the default ‘neutral’ lense to tell stories through, because just the inclusion of female characters is deemed too ‘political’ or risky. It’s disgusting that this idea continues to be protected by leadership and we are having to fight so hard against it

‘We can’t have a girl power movie’ There’s so much I can say here, but women deserve to have their stories be unapologetically told. Young girls in the audience deserve to feel represented and seen in the stories they engage with.
