Heavy showers moving East across the country this morning after thunderstorms in the West earlier with some power outages reported. Temperatures up to 11c in Southwest with some sunny spells and more showers to come today.

The blue skies have arrived for some but still dark and wet in South and East

Dublin Airport had 33.9mm of rain yesterday and has recorded 16.7mm since midnight with a total of 50.6mm in last 33 hours. Average February monthly rainfall for Dublin Airport is 52.4mm!

Rain moving South and dying out and colder air moves in from North. Heavy rain overnight has resulted in spot flooding in parts of Dublin this morning.

Parts of the East and Southeast will be waiting until late afternoon tomorrow before they get the sunshine😬

Yet another named storm for Spain and Portugal. #StormOriana named by Spanish Met service for wind and rain Friday and Saturday with some very strong gusts in East of Spain Saturday. We think we have it bad but they are up to the letter O for storms😬

Red warnings for floods and wind in parts of France today and tomorrow.

The windchill for Friday the 13th is looking fresh!

As Storm Nils hits France and parts of Spain the good news is all that rain in Spain has helped increase water reservoirs levels there. Storing the rainfall is not something we do very well in Ireland and more droughts likely in summer we really should be!

The only good news today is the rain is mild. Turning colder from tomorrow afternoon.

Friday night looking very icy.

Another storm we are thankfully avoiding in Ireland is Storm Nils named by French met service and will bring wind and rain to France with risk of flooding. The options for escaping the rain in Western Europe are limited but we will have a nice cold bright fresh day Friday.

Guess what the weather is again today?

Some fog developing tonight before more rain moves up from the South for Tuesday. Cooler and dryer weather for Friday and early Saturday but rain looks likely to arrive earlier Saturday evening now and could fall as snow in some areas before quickly turning to rain.

A wet start to the week with rain in South moving North.

A chance of some nice fresh crisp sunny weather for Friday and Saturday. It will cause issues with icy surfaces though. Bring on the cold sunny spells even if it’s only for a couple of days.

Rainfall forecast for the next 5 days shows less rainfall for Ireland but still highest in South, East and Northeast. Sadly Portugal and parts of Spain will see more heavy rain. A brief cold snap still likely for Friday and Saturday but risk of low system Sunday with wind and rain

A few bright spells but also heavy showers and while we will see some sunny spells tomorrow Sunday we have more cloud and rain to come and I know it’s getting to a lot of people but it will pass and the weather will improve eventually!

A mainly dry but cloudy morning with some foggy patches. There will be some showers today though.

Weather models continue to show a cold snap from around Friday 13th for a few days. We will sadly see more rain before that. First video shows forecast of upper air temperatures and second the forecast rainfall for Europe next 10 days.

The River Slaney has dropped back at Tullow which is good news, it is still rising in Enniscorthy but they will be glad to see the drop at Tullow gauge. We just need more gauges upstream and I have requested them from OPW so hopefully they will be added soon.

Rain in Northern areas and also more showers pushing into the Southeast

Storms Kristin and Leonardo have brought extensive damage across Portugal and left over 1 million customers without electricity. Fair play to ESB Networks who has deployed crews to Portugal to help restore power. Crews left Rosslare last night and more leaving today.

River Slaney high and rising as that rain from Wicklow Mountains flows down.

Orange warnings updated to end earlier today.

A damp to wet morning but rainfall totals overnight little lower than forecast for many areas. However 53.8mm of rain last has fallen in last 24 hours at a private station near Roundwood in Wicklow and the River Slaney in Tullow is rising fast.
