Why "Losing All Hope Is Freedom"

Active listening is not simply hearing the words that are spoken, it's listening to understand WHY the words were spoken. 🙏

Don't waste time trying to convince people of the truth when the truth isn't as important to them as their egos. My blue sky isn't jeopardized by how green they perceive it. Prioritize inner-peace over proving people wrong. You may see a green sky one day or realize you've been colorblind all along

Sometimes Tact is the art of telling someone the truth in such a way that they are grateful for it, and sometimes Tact is the art of knowing not to say anything at all. But Tact is never blunt criticism or unsolicited advice. I think the flip side of Buddha's Mindful Speech is Mindful Silence 🙏

You CAN have the life you want, but it won't happen overnight... It takes a bunch of small steps to make it a reality. If you don't take those small steps, then you can only have the life you DON'T want. The choice is yours.

People are under no obligation to live up to our expectations of them. Read that again. Once we accept that, we can live in peace with them and with ourselves. Know acceptance, know peace. No acceptance, no peace.

Heartbreaking to watch friends & family direct their anger at the people who tell them the truth, not at the people who lied to them. It happens if we cling to beliefs, ideas, opinions & traditions, even in the face of obvious failure. Let go of what's killing you even if it's killing you to let go.

Stand in your truth even if your knees are shaking. Speak with quiet confidence rather than screaming with obvious insecurity. And listen to understand, not to judge. 🙏

Needing external validation puts us in a dysfunctional co-dependent relationship with the entire world, whereas healing our wounds liberates us from the confines of social conventions. We need role models with a moral compass 🙏

Someone just told me they can't live in line with their core values because they don't know what they are. I said, "If you're unclear about your priorities, just look at the way you spend your time and money, and there is your answer." After a long silence they said, "I've got some work to do!" 🙏

Pillows, shirts, stickers, yoga mat.. I can see clearly now, the rage is gone 🙏🧘‍♂️

Did you have a bad day, or did you have a bad 5-minutes and you let that ruin your whole day?

You aren't stuck. You cling to behavior patterns that helped you in the past, but they have become harmful, not helpful. You can't move forward if you use an old formula in this new stage of life. Change the formula, and you'll get different results. It's not easy, but it beats spinning in circles.

There isn't a list of things you need to do in order to be happy, but there IS a list of things you are regularly doing that prevent you from being happy, like the Three C's: Complaining, Comparing, and Criticizing.

My favorite part in the Bible is where Jesus was alone talking to God, and someone who wasn't there wrote about it. 🤭

When there is no cure, there are coping skills and healthy habits we can form to replace detrimental ones. It isn't easy, but it is EASIER than spending the rest of our lives angry, burnt out, overthinking, anxious,stressed, sad, lazy, or impatient. 🙏 Practice. Practice. Practice.

Over 800 schools of Buddhism, and in Zen, monks can get married. I was confused why anyone would choose a life of simplicity and self-reflection yet still be in a relationship. My teacher said there are things you can only learn about yourself in a relationship that you cannot learn alone. Agree?

"An easy trek in the wrong direction is ultimately much more difficult than an uphill climb toward euphoria." Not sure what page that's in Buddhist Boot Camp, but it's in there. I've never met a strong person with an easy past 🙏

When you love something, don't keep it a secret... here's a perfectly beautiful example of spreading the message, sharing the love, because someone somewhere needs to hear it 🙏

What you put up with is what you end up with! You teach people how to treat you 🙏

Contentment is not attained by getting more, it's what happens when you want less. Then you can slow down enough to leisurely enjoy life instead of rushing to the same destination as everyone else. It's not a race nor a competition. Wake up! 🙏
