In a class-action lawsuit filed Thursday in Marion County Circuit Court, they argue the state’s prison system is violating the Oregon Constitution, which prohibits the “harsh, degrading, or dehumanizing treatment of prisoners.”

We’re suing the Oregon Department of Corrections to end the use of solitary confinement in prison. On any given day, ODOC is holding hundreds of Oregonians in torturous conditions in solitary. It’s breaking people down, mentally and physically, and it needs to stop. 🧵

A Multnomah County jury has awarded more than $760,000 to our client Cider Riot owner Abram Goldman-Armstrong after finding defendants associated with the far-right group Patriot Prayer liable for a violent 2019 attack. Even though the justice system moves slowly, we will always stay the course.

Terri Lee Brown, who the Oregon Supreme Court found was wrongly returned to prison after an earlier release, has sued Gov. Tina Kotek, Washington County District Attorney Kevin Barton, clemency coordinator Nicole Townsend and other officials for $10,000,000 in damages.
