This was a fun commission. The person requesting wanted an imaginary “80 Page Giant” of Wonder Woman doing only mundane things. Haha! Honestly, it makes me laugh.

I ran across a Jack Kirby Superman sketch online today. It looked like it would be fun to ink and give it a vintage color treatment. It was!

Even before DC and Marvel mixed their characters with ”Amalgam" comics in the late 90's, I thought Matt Murdock would make a great Batman. As Daredevil, Matt has a Radar Sense, perfect for a bat character. Or, if the two combined (like Amalgam comics) he could be BATDEVIL!

Just finished drawing on a blank cover as a commission. I've never tried using markers and colored pencils before, so I gave it a whirl. It's based on Amazing Spider-Man Annual #21.

I recently visited the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum in Kansas City. This Egyptian piece has the wrong hand on each arm! I don’t know if it’s a mistake or if it has meaning behind it. I'd feel more connected to the ancient artist if he merely made a silly mistake.

I typically don’t take strip suggestions from people, but I found this commission request to be pretty funny. Plus, As a kid I LOVED when Spider-Man and The Human Torch teamed up as good-natured rivals. Maybe we'll eventually get some of this in the MCU!

On my latest commission, the patron wanted Daredevil in Josie's Bar. He asked for it to be inspired by the classic Frank Miller comics. I made up a new situation, but I tried my best to walk a line between MIller's style and my own!

Here’s a gag that MAD rejected and I completed for the 13th Dimension site. Just for fun! (Btw, please don’t criticize Mad’s decision. I consider them friends. There’s a lot of thought that goes into every issue. It’s a tough job!)

Latest commission finished. Six, little sketch cards!

I took a commission to draw 6 different characters on 2.5 x 3.5 sketch cards. Typically, on something that small, artists draw only a headshot or a bust, and sometimes a full figure. I have only myself to blame for how I decided to draw Antman.

I drew this “MAD” book when I was a kid. It makes drawing an ACTUAL cover even more fun for me! My kid gag might be a bit unclear— It takes place at a Halloween costume contest. The man holding his head, ACTUALLY removed his head! He’s declared the winner, but unfortunately dies at the same.

A couple of months ago, a Production Company contacted me to ask if the rights to DIRTNAP were available. I said "yes" and never heard back. But, it made me realized I should perhaps be more proactive in such things. Too bad I have no idea how to do that.

This latest commission is of the original Great Lakes Avengers (plus Squirrel Girl who later joined). As I was drawing Flatman, it occurred to me he would have fit right in with some of the ’60s cartoon superheroes, such as The Impossibles or The Mighty Heroes!

This cover commission of 1942's DETECTIVE COMICS #73 was a request to switch all the characters with modern versions. Costumes have gotten much more complicated over the decades! Btw, I have no idea what the blue rose-thing at the bottom of the cover is supposed to be, but I drew it regardless. 😊

Latest commission. Mixed media on a blank comic cover. Cosmic rays turned Ben Grimm into The Thing, but it's his puns that make him a monster.

Found this image. I colored some sketch cards (2" x 3.5") digitally and, I think, I only shared the Thing a couple months back.

I had a great time at Planet Comicon! Here's some art I did in sketchbooks, a blank cover, and sketch card. Things got a little odd when someone asked for a Jon/Garfield as Aquaman/Hammerhead . His friend saw it and asked for something similar. The more tired I got, the tackier the drawings got--

When I first drew the "Avengers Circle" with the first 60's appearance of each character, I REALLY disliked how unbalanced the colors were with both Iron Man and the Hulk being grey. So, I used their "second" appearances and made Iron Man yellow and the Hulk green. I made the right decision, right?

Well, the flu put me out of commission for a while, but I'm back at it! Just finished my latest commission. Drawn as requested (but I couldn't help but add a word balloon).

I just posted a set of small sketch cards I finished today. My preferred method of coloring is to do it on my computer. So, I picked one and colored it digitally, just for kicks. A nice way to wind down today--

I just finished a 10 sketch card commission. I have mixed feelings about them. They're SOOO small, 2.5" x 3.5"! Also, I can get exactly the color treatment I want when on my computer. These were done with watercolors and color pencils. (And yes, the last card is me. A self-portrait was requested. 😊)

I'm not much of a Joker fan, but I did enjoy drawing this commission of Batman hitting him!

My Wonder Woman and Power Girl riff on the famous Sophia Loren/Jayne Mansfield photo (which I will post in the comments). It's one of those things that occurred to me, and then I HAD to draw it!

Admittedly, this idea made me laugh, so I had to draw it. It will make sense to fans of Golden Age comics. As for the rest of you, please check the comments. 😁

Just finished my latest commission-- Kamandi and friends, a Jack Kirby creation. I've always thought Ben Boxer, the guy in red, was cool. He could turn into a man of metal! The tiger's name is The Great Caesar.

Here's something mildly interesting-- I accidentally found my original idea for turning Batman into a "batstache." I got a better idea right before turning it into a finished MAD, piece a few years back.

My friends and family knows that I've always wanted Superman to show up towards the end of all Godzilla movies. Maybe I'll finally get something similar in the new Superman film!!
