I think TOS spock should be a smoker. I know Leonard stopped and advocated for others to stop, but unfortunately spock is just so. Smoker coded. Due to the smoking Leonard was already doing at that time. I think spock would be one of those started at 13 and just casually does them forever types

I think the loss of classical history/art being taught in American schools is also to blame for the flattening of Vulcans post TOS. like I don't have the words but Vulcans are so of their time (60s) a weird mashup of eastern mysticism and counterculture philosophy

i would love to make a reference sheet of all the canonical vulcan clothing we see and the real-world inspirations for them. most inspo seems to be vaguley middle-eastern/asian clothing. alot of accessories and headdresses remind me of tibetan+mongolian+nepalese traditional dress specifically

anyway here are my favourite shark egg shapes for no particular reason :> they are either attached to seaweed/kelp or shoved between rocks for protection, its easy to find empty pouches during baby season washed up on beaches near shark territories!

Anyway as someone who loves period pieces, especially set in mediaeval/renaissance but also generally anytime before like mid 1800s, it drives me up the wall how bad so many star trek writers are at actually writing vulcan culture/society and making it feels real

As a side note the family dynamics going on in lake mungo are kinda how I view Spock's family dynamics, so maybe my view really IS impacted by my Australianes because I've seen a fair few reviews by non Australians wildly misreading the lake mungo characters

Sorry finally watched lake mungo with my friends and I'll never be over it. We had a discussion at the end about it being classified as a horror movie, which isn't wrong per say, but I feel like Australian gothic is a more accurate genre description. . .
