In Harrisburg today as Kim Joynes' advocate for commutation. She, along with several other applicants, will be interviewed by members of PA Board of Pardons. It's the most important interview of her life--one that will determine how she will live out her remaining years.

It's the first day of the Fall semester at Villanova & we've now had 2 separate alerts of an active shooter on campus. The 1st resulted in campus-wide lockdown on Thur. The 2nd was yesterday (Sunday) & resulted in an extensive search of a dorm. Both determined to be result of hoax.

Yesterday my phone blew up with texts. I ignored them bc I was writing. When I finally checked 1st message was in a group chat of 4 colleagues: 2 were on campus amidst an active shooter lockdown. 1 was trapped in her car in the parking garage. The other locked & barricaded inside a bldg.

Received notification at 4:34 pm there is an active shooter at Villanova University.

Kim Joynes has served 4+ decades of LWOP. She was present during an altercation btwn 2 men in which 1 man bludgeoned another to death. That guy was freed decades ago. We believe Kim more than deserves a commutation of sentence. We hope PA Board of Pardons agrees during tomorrow's merit review.

Yesterday I accompanied a mother & lone caregiver of 2 teen daughters to US Marshall's office. She had just been sentenced to 4 yrs in prison. Her only questions: "what will happen to my daughters? are they going to take my daughters?"

Got a win yesterday in Destiny Johnson case. Destiny defended her life from her alleged abuser, spent 2 years in jail awaiting trial, & faced murder 1 charge. With expert witness, improved knowledge re: IPV in DAO & huge community turnout, she was able to plead to vol. man & get time served +prob.

Dr. Scott Lee, a gynecologist at California Institution for Women (a state women's prison) is the subject of a class action complaint alleging he brutalized, tortured, and threatened incarcerated women in his care.
