I finally watched I Saw the Devil (2010), a really well-done offbeat serial killer thriller film from Korea, after owning it for probably almost 15 years, such is my backlog.

Hidden in the Steam sale for $3 is a charmingly good take on classic 80s coin op games like Pac-Man and DK Jr called Annalyne. It's a one button retro-fueled homage that works so well it could have been a real arcade game from my youth. Super hard with plenty of frustrating deaths, but still fun.

I started Silent Hill f last night and one thing that really struck me, which I haven't seen mentioned in the reviews I've read, is how doggedly the game seems to follow really old school design limitations and feel. It sort of feels like they made a PS2-style game on modern hardware.

I randomly started watched an anime, From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman, because the name was amusing. It's moderately entertaining although it suffers from some really nonsense "fan" service BS with the female character outfits and some really questionable viewing angle shots.

I saw this and it got me thinking. In my youth, I've gone on and on like this about comics, video games, sci-fi novels and movies, etc.. Now, the idea of talking about anything for more than a few minutes sounds ponderous and probably stressful. I simply no longer feel like an "expert" in anything.

Maybe I'm just overly tired and bored, but this made me laugh.

Suffice to say, Alien Earth's final episode only improved things simply by virtue of it being the last one. It's the most watchable yet stupid show I've seen in some time, which is a little impressive.

The more I play Star Wars Outlaws (which has been a lot lately), the more it makes me wish for a Tomb Raider-style archeology-themed Star Wars adventure. Something where exploring old ruins, ancient alien structures, Jedi Temples, or even old long lost droid factories for artefacts is the focus.

I'm finishing up #Bodkin on Netflix and it's a darkly funny and interesting tale of true crime podcasting and small town life, but it's most interesting trait is how unflattering it is to pretty much everyone involved. Nearly everyone on the show is actually kind of awful, especially the two leads.

A no doubt very fine person at work keeps putting Fox News on in the break room and as I passed by I saw them interviewing that giant of comedy, Rob Schneider, about this whole unsightly Kimmel thing. He was waxing on about how Johnny Carson was for the whole family because he never got political.

Helping my kid with her latin class and as someone who never had latin, I find this language unnecessarily convoluted and weird.

Regarding #Alien Earth and Romulus, Romulus had that inane 10-minute gestation period and the show sadly copies it. The only way the bit with the boys getting to the beach could've been more absurd is if the alien came out dancing while wearing a top hat and holding a cane singing "Hello my baby".

Alien Earth is a very unserious show that I actually enjoy watching and also hope like hell no one considers canon. Much like every Alien film made after Aliens, it should just be stricken from the record. That said, this latest episode was the most absurd and funniest yet.

All the navel-gazing praise going on about the profundity of Silksong and how its intentionally sadist and inherently player-unfriendly design is somehow deep and meaningful instead of annoying and spiteful is interesting to me. There's a distinct air of this is what 'pure' gaming should be here.
