SPotD 16: Torre Rise in #Monterrey is set to not only become the tallest building in #Mexico, but in all of Latin America. It's a staggering 475m tall and quite skinny, like the NYC pencil towers. As a booming industrial city thanks to nearshoring, Monterrey's skyline is absolutely surging.

Another city in China will get its first skyscraper. Shangrao is a city of ~1-2 m in Jiangxi known for – uh – Britannica says glazed-paper and tea. Chinese towers tend to have windy names: Yunshang Shangrao Colorful World Project Tbf this design's not very 'colorful'–but I like the curved corners.

400 Central is the first true skyscraper for St Petersburg, FL, a rapidly growing skyline in the Tampa Bay Area. It's a wiiide boy so it looks very imposing from some angles. Tampa joins the few US metro areas with a 490ft+ scraper in ≥2 cities (others are NYC, Seattle, DFW, Miami, ATL) SPotD #15

Tower C at Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base (that's quite a mouthful) is one of Zaha Hadid Architects' tallest projects to date. The podium and skybridge seemingly melt into a golden-colored exterior. Also it's a supertall, in case it wasn't impressive enough. SPOTD #14

Today's skyscraper project: Boston's South Station Tower will be the 5th tallest in Beantown. It sits on the historic South Station so there's a huge architectural contrast between the two. Like One Dalton, Winthrop & Millennium, it'll be another glassy tower - the shape is more unique.

Oh I almost forgot today's project :) The Octagon is (as the name implies) an octagonal tower going up in #Birmingham! It's part of the city center Paradise development. At 152m, it'll be the tallest octagonal building in the world (yes, there are others), and Brum's 1st 'official' skyscraper.

#Skyscraper Proj of the Day 11 2 Finsbury Ave, a pair of office towers coming to Broadgate in London's main financial district. A pretty cool angular design with diagonal lines across the exterior that form sharp triangles. Nearby, 1-2 Broadgate with its orange-red facade, is u/c as well.

#Skyscraper Proj of the Day 10 #NYC's other new supertall, 520 5th Ave! The arched windows and setbacks really make this one for me. It also looks quite prominent when viewed from Empire State Building. Is this reminiscent of Art Deco or simply a newer classy style?

#Skyscraper Proj of the Day 9 Miami's first supertall will be a bunch of stacked cubes! The Waldorf-Astoria Miami is a hotel/residential building. Because of FAA height limits most supertall proposals have a max height ~320 m.

#Skyscraper Project of the Day 7: Sherwin-Williams, a paint/coating company, is building a new HQ in downtown #Cleveland. Nearing completion, it'll be the 4th tallest in the city & the tallest new building since 1991. The company has hinted that it may need more capacity with yet another building.

#Skyscraper Project of the Day 6: FOUR - called that because it has 4 towers - is #Frankfurt's latest addition to its skyline. The mixed-use project is topped out and will have Germany's 3rd tallest building. I dig how the buildings work well with each other. The lighting already looks sick

#Skyscraper project of the day 5: Pinnacle One Yonge in #Toronto will have Canada's tallest building when completed, a 346 meter tower. It'll form a new peak on the Harbourfront skyline - and it looks like it will overtake The One (also under construction) as Toronto's first supertall building.
