My 87yr old mother is in the early stages of #dementia. She functions pretty well but is still in denial about her decline. She burns more food than she eats but still thinks she is a great cook, she forgets so many things then denies you ever told her them. It’s really hard to be her daughter now.

Down at my mother’s house in the midlands. She feels she needs a little more support now she’s widowed and 86yrs old. Trying to convince her that she’s actually doing really well is tough, trying to get her to see that using her walking stick is not a sign of weakness is harder.

I keep getting followed by accounts where their only posts are selfies. Not for me thank you.

So we pay for my 86yr old Mum to have an emergency bracelet in case of a fall. She triggered it at 2am by accident and then didn’t answer the phone call from them as she “didn’t know who was ringing” 🤦‍♀️ This meant phone calls to us and her neighbours to check on her.

We have lived in our current house for 23 years. Every single year we have one Christmas card delivered to us addressed to our next door neighbours and I duly repost it in their letter box. Never have they thought to contact their friend to correct their address 🙄

I am currently cyber stalking my daughter. She has gone to a concert at the O2 on her own. She has so much more confidence in herself than I have. It would have terrified me. Still I want to make sure she gets to her friend’s mum’s house safely.

So far 5 jobs ticked off my post holiday to do list. That’s more than 2 a day! Even sent my passport off to be renewed. It’s so easy at the post office now.

With my mind freshly invigorated by a holiday. I have done my to do list for this week. I am now paralysed by how long it is 🫣
