Last summer I visited the St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station in St. Louis, Missouri. Behind me is their 120,000 square-foot, two story aquarium with 13,000 aquatic animals including sharks and rays. Keep your eye out for Quasi the green sea turtle rescued after a nearly fatal boat accident in 2017.

This is Monument Valley in northern Arizona and behind me is where many famous movies were filmed including scenes from Back to the Future 3 and National Lampoon's Vacation - not to mention more westerns than I can count! I was here in 2021. It doesn't look real but I promise it is.

Here is the famous town square from the classic movie Groundhog Day. They filmed in Woodstock, IL during the spring of 1992. I was here in the summer of 2023. No rodents in sight! I did buy some life insurance from some bald guy I met on the street though...BING!

Tomorrow is the big day - will the groundhog see its shadow? (History says yes.) Regardless, I'm pretty sure winter isn't going away anytime soon. While Phil might get all the fame, this is a carving of Woodstock Willie from Woodstock, IL where everyone's favorite Groundhog Day movie was filmed.

I couldn't help but think today of the Uranus Fudge Factory, long a roadside staple in Missouri and also now expanded to several other ones like here in Indiana, north of Indianapolis. They sure make use of the double entendre. When you check out they ask, "How would you like your fudge packed?"

This is near the cruise port in St. Thomas, USVI from my visit there in 2005. As you can see, they have a lot of "shop buildings" and yes indeed there are a lot of things you don't need but that seem like a good idea at the time. I was back here 19 years later and I will share that photo tomorrow.

This is a cool Lewis & Clark statue I found last summer in Jefferson City, Missouri. The Lewis and Clark Expedition explored the newly acquired western portion of the country after the Louisiana Purchase. It took from 1804 - 1806 and the explorers passed through here on June 2, 1804.

If you saw my post yesterday, you'll know I like old signs. In addition to the sign museum in Cincinnati from yesterday, another cool place to see them is the Neon Museum in Las Vegas. This place preserves and restores legendary signs from a bygone era in Vegas. Definitely worth a visit!

Inside the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati, OH. This place is so cool! I was here in 2024 and if you're a regular follower you know I've raved about this place. It's a repository for so many old unique signs. Many of the most impressive ones are of course neon and were rescued and refurbished.

Last year I visited Charleston, West Virginia. I will admit, I don't know much about the state and I'm sure I knew it at one point but I had also forgotten that Charleston was the state capital. They also have a big river. Overall, not a bad place!

This is the Tower of London from my 2023 visit. The White Tower, which is behind me was built by William the Conqueror in 1078. The Tower has served variously as an armory, a treasury, a prison, the home of the Royal Mint, a public record office, and the home of the Crown Jewels of England.

I found myself in the Great Smoky Mountains back in early spring of 2001. This is right where the Appalachian Trail passes through and while it was tempting to hike on down, I had a nice toasty car waiting for me.

I had a lovely weekend in the desert! And when one finds themselves near Mesa, Arizona it’s a must to visit Organ Stop Pizza. Famous for its massive Wurlitzer theater pipe organ, which features over 6,000 pipes and is the largest of its kind in the world. The organist takes requests all night long!

The deserts of the southwest never get old to me. This is a beautiful magic hour photo from earlier this evening on a hiking trail near Apache Junction which is east of downtown Phoenix. Thanks to the winter rains there was actually a lot of green to enjoy!

I needed a break from the cold and snow of the Midwest and I think I found where the sun has been hiding: The desert in Arizona! I visited the Saguaro National Park this morning. The park is divided into two and this is the west portion that I’ve never been to. Simply beautiful!

I continue my countdown tonight of my top 5 favorite photos from 2025. This is the world famous Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas. The musical fountain show is performed in an 8.5-acre lake in front of the resort, using 1,214 water nozzles and 4,792 lights. The fountains shoot as high as 460 feet!

It's Christmas Eve and my countdown of Christmas adventures is nearing an end. Here's another Christkindl Markt (Christmas Market) for you! This one is in Grand Rapids, MI and the schnitzel on a stick was really delicious! Food is probably one of my favorite parts of the holidays!

The Gilmore Car Museum in Michigan recreates living rooms from each decade of the 20th century as they would have looked at Christmas. This one is the 1980's, and that is the decade that I came into existence! I was afraid of being left behind, or for museum officials to refuse to let me leave!

Only a few more days until Christmas! Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting the Detroit Zoo to see their zoo light display, called Wild Lights. And I have to say, these lights were pretty wild! Have you visited a holiday display at a zoo before? If so, where? I need future adventure ideas!

I'm counting down the days to Christmas with my favorite holiday related adventures! Tonight I have a picture of the giant tree outside the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Everything is bigger in Texas, they said. I don't know about that, but this tree WAS pretty large!

Last December I visited the Festival of Lights at the Cincinnati Zoo. It was such a cool evening! So many lights! So many animals! If you Google best zoo lights in the USA, Cincinnati's always ranks at or near the top. Let me just say, this stuffed cow was not disappointed!
