pollux gave her a warm smile as he nodded his head, taking her hand to kiss it. “pleasure.” he then continued on with the tour for her, even showing her the gardens.

he then paused. “oh, how rude of me. what is it?” he asked, looking back down at her with furrowed brows.

looking back at her, he noticed he gazed for too long and looked away. “i… we should continue with the tour.” he moved along with her. “after all, one could get lost here.” he said, looking back at her.

“i can’t… my children are the reason why she is dead.” he said, shoving his hands into his pockets as he looked down. “she died from a broken heart. i was banned from ever seeing her again…”

“i don’t hate you. i just don’t love you. i’m only doing this so my children can leave me alone. they know i’m very much in love with their mother.” that’s when he looked up at a portrait of her. “she tells me to move on, but i can’t… i would be breaking our vows.”

“that’s unfortunate.” he deadpanned, looking down at her with a raised eyebrow. “well, if sex is what you want, i can find a man for you for those purposes.” he nodded his head.

“you get a fortune. that should be worth it.” he shrugged his shoulders before he began to give her a guided tour of the manor.

“i will only have room in my heart for one woman. that is my wife. my children are foolish to think i can just forget about her a move on.” he turned to face her. “i will show you to your suite.” he offered her his arm.

he was trapped. there was nothing he could do about this. marrying some underwear model? it was below him. “fine.” he downed his drink.

“fine. i will marry you to please my children. this will simply be a business arrangement.” walking over to the bar, he poured them each a drink.

“yes, well. i’m more old-fashioned.” he said as he placed a hand on the desk. “my children don’t seem to care.” he added, looking away from her.

“dress differently. for one.” he said as he came around the desk with a soft sigh, looking down at the floor. “and be patient… i’m still very much in love with my wife…”

“that’s not what i said. i just don’t like the way you are presenting yourself.” he said, standing up. “if you were to become my new wife, i do have conditions…” he added, clearing his throat.

“i’m not as much concerned with the outside. it’s what’s inside i’m more concerned with.” he said, putting the catalog down with a sigh.

“i don’t care.” he said, shaking his head. he really had a lot of things to do. especially now that irma was gone. burying himself into his work was how he stayed focused and not think about anything else.

clearing his throat, he leaned back in his chair. “i’m not impressed, miss.” he said, shaking his head. he was still very much a grieving widower. and he shunned so many away.

unbelievable. he was much classier than that. glancing at her, he sat down and put his glasses on. “very well. sit.”

looking up, he sighed as he stood up. “let me guess, my son brought you here.”

he’s in his office trying to be productive.
