It is technologically possible for social VR platforms to let you show-and-tell a real world object, or decorate a world with it, by switching to passthrough for a few seconds and pointing at it. Seconds later, it can be held in your avatar's hands in VR as a virtual 3D object.

This is very impressive, and you should go try it right now. The quality isn't Hyperscape-level of course, but it only needs a single image input, and processes in a matter of minutes!
