It is technologically possible for social VR platforms to let you show-and-tell a real world object, or decorate a world with it, by switching to passthrough for a few seconds and pointing at it. Seconds later, it can be held in your avatar's hands in VR as a virtual 3D object.

This is very impressive, and you should go try it right now. The quality isn't Hyperscape-level of course, but it only needs a single image input, and processes in a matter of minutes!

Meta continues to hammer home unbeatable value. Even though we continue to recommend Quest 3 over Quest 3S, deals like this are hard to resist.

Lack of Android XR kills any potential of consumer standalone appeal here, but very interested to potentially see wide field of view wireless PC VR via Steam Link or Virtual Desktop.

I think the most exciting aspects of Steam Frame are: (A) Its ergonomics - it's significantly more comfortable than Quest 3! (B) Its wireless adapter and foveated encoding, which make streaming feel like DisplayPort. Steam Frame is a better PC VR headset than Quest 3.

Steam Machine (the desktop PC/console) is going to cost a lot more than some optimists are expecting.

There is a massive space for standalone headsets between 2K plain LCD and 4K micro-OLED. Perhaps the ASUS ROG Horizon OS headset will serve it.
