Is it really so much to ask for a fantasy game with multiple factions and a built in reputation system? A game with deep lore and robust magic system. Huge towns to explore. Big world. A man can dream. 😌

Added: NPC charge ability 👺💀⬅️ 🏹🤠 I don't know what to do about the numbers, there shouldn't be this many hits going on in a regular battle but if I there's a "summoner lord" build I guess it's worth thinking about early on.

Considering switching to line art for portraits, 90% sure I want them due to the huge amount of dialogue in the game. Why? Because of scaling. IMO, shrinking the portrait of Anne in image 1 removes the charm drawn in at that resolution (img 2)

Still struggling to figure out the ideal camera setup. The locked isometric camera ("diablo" style) seems to make the sprites look better in the environment, but the rotating camera also feels good. Decisions, decisions.

Some exciting developments this weekend! Tried up to 50 enemies on the map with ❄️ (no lag or framerate issues it seems) Also used the new ranged auto-attack. I'll definitely have to say goodbye to instakill in the near future and try a more realistic scenario 😂

I think one of the things World of Warcraft / KOTOR nailed way back then was to give melee characters nice tools to "close the gap" with an enemy, making them less tedious to play when compared to ranged characters. Here is a prototype of a "Charge" ability.

It's a weird world where the shittier a piece of software looks, the more I trust it. The fancy looking ones? They're going to steal my data or extort me in pricing or just not work. Crappy looking tools made by some random dude? This shit is going to get the job done and do nothing else.

EARLY experimentation with enemy targeting and third-person melee combat. I'm still trying to determine whether you can attack outside of enemy selection (Zelda, Dark Souls), or whether it should all be in a "battle loop" like in World of Warcraft or KOTOR
