This was good! I do wish that the rock elements felt less like a reference point and more like a fully realized fusion between rock and country, like they were on American Water 2 years later, but even still you just can’t go wrong with Berman’s incredible and witty writing :)

Randomly got in the mood for more Duster today and decided to finally give Stratosphere a listen, thought it was really nice :) Gonna listen to some more Contemporary Movement today too, I kinda put it on the back burner for a bit and I regret it given my initial enjoyment of it

Was honestly pretty excited to get into this and instrumentally it was pretty cool but I gotta be honest I could not stand the vocals at all, actively made pretty much every song shockingly grating for me. I could see it being someone’s thing but it definitely wasn’t mine

I’ve been listening to Laughing Stock by Talk Talk. Here are my thoughts below ⬇️

THIS WAS AMAZING!!!! I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get to it but I am astounded at practically every bit of this. Production is incredible, Fiona’s voice is FLAWLESS, and there’s such a palpable sense of passion in every waking moment. Fucking LOVED it!!

Ngl I might have to turn my month-end topster into a top 20 it’s been a jam-packed month of FLs

Already enjoy this a good bit more than Fake Train largely because of the improvement in mastering and overall audio quality. On top of that it’s just got a great crop of tracks. Excited to get into even more of Unwound’s discography soon :)

Yet another great Post-Rock album, there’s been a lot I’ve been listening to for the first time this month… Love the noise rock passages on this especially on “Like Herod” :)

Yet another wonderful album from Stereolab. They never cease to amaze me :)

They still have not missed so far. Probably the weakest of the 4 albums I’ve heard but still really really solid. At minimum an 8/10.

Honestly… I feel like if I was one of the people waiting for this to come out since Rocky’s last album, I’d be pretty disappointed It’s cool that he shows a good bit of ambition here, but I don’t think most of it pans out that well and the rest is just so… middle of the road to me

This was just so mesmerizing. Such a gentle and comforting album. Fantastically written in every single moment. The instrumentation is detailed, fluid, and free. Really no complaints at all for me, Post-Rock at its best.

This was beautiful, felt like I was floating in space the whole time listening to it. All the string arrangements are super lush, the production is quite gorgeous, and there’s a good amount of variety to boot. Loved it.

This was pretty sick, very similar to what Daft Punk was doing in the earlier stages of their career but much more glitchy and noisy. It’s real fun

Wasn’t the biggest fan of Peking O especially after a 17 Minute experimental/ambient track (That had some REALLY cool soundplay btw), but outside of that this is the best Krautrock I’ve ever heard. Amazing LP overall. Despite my complaint I prob still prefer it over Future Days

Bit surprising that it’s taken me this long to get to a TOOL album but here we are. Started with Ænima and really enjoyed it. It’s got all the best parts of the nu-metal and alt metal that I loved as a kid but with the kind of grooves and progressions I can appreciate now :)

This was fuckin’ fire. Even more excited to listen to more Fugazi now. Probably gonna end up loving this more than Repeater

Also enjoyed this one quite a bit :) Zach Hill is a wild drummer, the stripped back noise rock sound feels a lot like Lightning Bolt to me which is likely a big reason for my enjoyment of it lol

This was quite fun! Always love hearing some Madlib production and even if the rapping did show its age a bit I still don’t think it overshadows how solid of an album it is :)

Honestly… didn’t really enjoy this one at all. Bit surprising as I was looking forward to it but every song on here feels far too loose and stagnant for me to stay engaged, not really a fan of Gira’s vocals here either :(

It’s interesting listening to this after getting introduced to The Knife through Shaking The Habitual, as that album is definitely a lot more experimental than Silent Shout Even still, it’s fantastic just how well the group balances eerie sounds and catchy songs here

Long needed FL :) Really loved it, had a feeling I would given that I’ve enjoyed every song I’ve heard from The Cure up until this point but it really is a masterpiece

Last of Lightning Bolt’s 90’s/2000’s material I had to check out. It’s the first record they put out, but it’s made up of live, very lo-fi recordings. Some are pretty sick but I think a lot of it definitely does suffer from poor sound quality, especially Caught Deep In The Zone

This was honestly quite a bit better than I was expecting. A lot of tracks on here that easily live up to the quality of Lightning Bolt’s older material, and even if not *every* new idea pans out to its full potential, most of them do and it’s pretty exciting to hear.

Geordie Greep and underscores will rule 2026 I can feel it in my bones….

First FL of 2026!! Thought it was fantastic! One of the first I’ve heard in this particular avant-garde folk and folk-rock style but I ended up loving it the more it went on, good start to the year :)

I’ve been listening to this for a while and it hasn’t fully clicked with me just yet compared to Lightning Bolt’s later material but I get the feeling there’s gonna come one day where it completely makes sense to me. Definitely the most experimental they’ve sounded for me so far
