About 20 hours into Xenogears now. It's a fascinating game... when it gets going, the story can be absolutely RIVETING, with some shockingly well-done cinematography for a PS1 game from 1998. And even with a rather stilted English translation, the game still manages to really pull you into its world

the Xenogears soundtrack is unbelievably good. this song plays while an old man tells you that a wounded god is slumbering beneath the ocean. my jaw dropped the first time i heard this

The game's translation is a bit clunky, but the emotion of scenes like this still manages to hit really hard for me. The music being really damn good helps too

Somehow I completely missed this last time I tried it, but they straight up put Lucca from Chrono Trigger in this game as a lil easter egg. Which is especially interesting now knowing that Xenogears was being developed as a Chrono Trigger sequel at one point

The opening of Xenogears is honestly one of the best I've ever seen. Hell of a way to start an adventure
