I fear that as lawless and nihilistic as Trump is, Musk is worse. He is replacing the American civil service—who manage the country—with AI bots. And has already started, via his army of techy teenaged minions. That’s the real catastrophe and the real coup.

Re: Trump moving his inauguration indoors because it’s cold: I keep thinking about places I have been in Nunavut where school isn’t cancelled until the temp drops below -40C. That’d be in Canada, the country Donald Trump wants to…oh, wait.

In Toronto, where I live, there are now almost as many dentistry offices downtown as there are cannabis stores. I presume the former gradually replace the latter, and that this is considered economic progress.

AI algorithms claim they can bring back the dead in chatbot avatar form. I tried it with my late mother. It was weird.

This AI replica of my dead mother has plenty to say about the rise of the digital grief industry
To the tech evangelists, AI reconstructions of lost loved ones promise solace and a kind of immortality. But can they deliver?

"Fear is infectious.” David Frum on intimidation of the media at MSNBC. Follows other news of the owner of the LA Times stepping on his reporters’ stories. Time to fight back, before it’s too late. Maybe it’s always too late. But it’s definitely time to fight back.
