Kates and Belk (2001) suggested at least one-third of Western adults identify as collectors. In my research, (both formal, and ad-hoc questioning at conferences) suggests it's nearer 50/50. Do you agree? What are the reasons for the rise of collecting in the last 25 years? Just a Western hobby?
