When my husband came out of cardiac surgery, he looked like the Borg queen had had her way with him. Terrifying. Now, here he sits, looking more or less normal, just a week later.

For a small city, we have limited choices of pharmacy and the ones we have are understaffed and inefficient. Today I had to engage in combat to acquire one of the medicines that my poor cracked-open-chested husband needs to stay alive. It was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life.

Is there anyone with experience caring for someone who was recovering from cardiac bypass surgery? It all seems really overwhelming at least for the first month.

We got new neighbors. Orange satan flag out front. They let their dogs run wild, every weekend is a loud party, and their teenager races down our streets like he’s on a speedway. My anxiety is over the top anyway due to husband’s serious illness. Tired of the maga entitlement.

Here’s the thing: all those pundits, podcasters, and politicians who proclaimed their undying love for Trump were never true believers. They were just lining their pockets with the fad du jour. Now that he’s losing popularity, it’s no big deal for them to trash him and jump ship. Meaningless.

Whatever people crave, some enterprise will provide. If you want people to stop abusing animals, maybe start by not eating them (in response to the cruelty of the latest farm bill re: pigs).

If someone is so emotionally and/or physically harmed by you and your greed and hateful actions that they want to kill you, maybe that’s a sign that you’re doing life wrong.

Husband’s cardiac event was more dangerous than first thought. Bit of a long road ahead. Lots more tests upcoming. I’m tired. Stressful day.

In part, we moved to this city for the excellent health care. Today it paid off in spades. Husband in the hospital with a cardiac event. He got immediate care. Professionals are right on top of it. Expecting a good outcome.

We finally sold our old house. The people who bought it are our doppelgängers. Seriously, they look like us, care about gardens and trees like us. The neighbors are going to think we moved back.

I got a little carried away with my Mimosa & Chocolate Bunny Day brunch menu. Most things prepped today, but lots more to do in the morning. I still like to make it special for my [old] kids.

I live in a highly manicured suburb. We found a small cottage with a barn/shop amid the sprawling farmhouse mcmansions. I am slowly transforming the garden into a lush, unmanicured paradise. Planting trees, some native plants, no overzealous pruning. Neighbors are noticing. Hope it starts a trend.

Two rescue kitties right here. Pillow and Comet. Sweet little cuties who needed a safe, quiet home. They now live the life of happy little princes. “Love is All You Need”

The wind is howling this afternoon. The neighbor kids were outside playing with a baggie full of pokemon cards, which are now scattered all over the neighborhood. I gathered a bunch and took back to them, then they put the bag down and they all blew away again. They apparently don’t care.

Planted clematis on a trellis at the front door. Transplanted a bunch of perennials that weren’t happy. Weeded. Watered the dry spots. And now this ol’ gal is tired.

I’m planting trees. There is nothing more optimistic than planting trees.

I dried some rosemary in the oven yesterday. I preheated it to put a pot roast in it this morning and now my house smells divinely of roast with rosemary.

The little primroses wintered over (I have never lived anywhere that they could do that). They’re blooming now and are the sweetest little joys in my life. I need to make a mass planting of them.

We adopted another little kitty to keep Pillow company. He is a beautiful little baby panther with golden eyes. My husband named him Comet.

People who defend our healthcare system saying, “We don’t have to wait to see a doctor” have obviously never been sick. My husband needs to see a cardiologist and there are not any in our state who can see him sooner than October. They said to go to the ER when he’s symptomatic. 🧵

Somehow, AI has taken over my husband’s MyChart. He is unable to compose a message to his doctor. The AI (named “Grace”) takes over and tries to write it for him. We can’t figure out how to shut her down and it’s making it extremely difficult for him to send a message. Mine isn’t doing it.

Pillow is smiling in his sleep. It’s such a relief that he wants to hang out with us now. He’s a happy little kitty.

Most Sundays, my kids and grandkids have breakfast with us. We used to talk for hours about books and movies and home improvements and trips and the arts and culture of our community. Now, we see it as a survivalist support group. We try to focus on happier things, but fear and grief often win.

Update on Pillow, my new kitty. After 3 weeks, I could pet him as long as we were in the pantry. Now, after 5 weeks, he comes out of his bedroom to play. I can pick him up and cuddle him briefly, and he purrs like crazy. He’s the best little boy. He eats a Hobbit. Many meals a day. 😉

Pillow is getting brave. He is treat motivated, and comes when he’s called now. Research indicates that he is akin to an American Ringtail Cat, which is a new breed that came from feral cats with curly tails. He’s still hoarding pillows and toys in his room. He loves Spot too much. 😂

Meet Pillow. He loves to make pillow piles to hide in. He’s my new kitty. He’s very shy and I am definitely working hard to earn his trust.

I found a kitty to adopt. A little gray marble boy who is very shy. He was feral, from a hoarding situation, and will take a while to decompress in his guest-room-palace. I once waited 3 weeks for a shy girl to come out from under a bed, I can do it again. 😉

I’m going to the animal shelter this afternoon to meet a couple of kitties. Since one of my kitty boys died in early Nov, my other kitty is super lonely. He’s a good old cat who makes friends easily. I think I have located some good personality matches for him. Wish us luck.

I finally heard from my missing friend’s husband. Nothing terrible happened, thank heaven, her phone was just glitching.

If US citizens didn’t demand drugs, nobody would be bringing them to us. Maybe we should be acknowledging that our society created the need and where there is need, someone will see an opportunity.

How ironic that the illegitimate, corrupt, and self-serving US president kidnapped Venezuela’s president for being illegitimate, corrupt, and self-serving. And the msm can’t even bring themselves to acknowledge it.

Kids coming over tonight to watch our alma mater compete for their conference championship. Cooking a festive feast for them.

Baking cinnamon rolls today for holiday breakfast. Listening to music and kneading dough is the best therapy ever. Tomorrow the last baking push: small honeybun cakes for gifts.

Every holiday season, my kids and grandkids get together for a cookie decorating contest. My daughter and grandson are coming over today to cut out and bake the cookies in my big ovens. Tomorrow the whole crew gets together. I feed them breakfast and then we get creative! So fun!

I couldn’t bear to leave this fuschia outside to freeze, and it has survived some tough weather already, so I repotted it and brought it inside. It joins my red geranium in the morning light of the dining room.

My heart is breaking for all the people who are hurting because of this hateful world. Is humanity redeemable at this point? I might need a break from the world for a while.

It’s time for everyone to read or re-read Gore Vidal’s Kalki. It’s as if he knew they were going to try to kill us all.

Weird glitches on phones and TV this afternoon. Dislike.

Look for the helpers. Mr. Rogers was right. This week, I have had some amazing helpers materialize in my life. People who genuinely care and give kindness freely. New friends to cherish. I am grateful. Life can be so hard. Trust people to be good.

There are good people. My granddaughter accidentally sent a gift for me to my old address. I called the lady who lives there now and she was very sweet. Will watch for the package and make sure it gets to me. The gift is a photo book of my kitty who just died. It would break my heart to lose it.

My favorite star-human sent me beautiful crystal stars to hang in my windows. Magick galore.
