My first entry is CLEANUP ON AISLE FIVE by Ann Larson (June), where she delves into what it's like to work in a busy grocery store. Well-written and fascinating, I will never, ever, argue or get mad at a cashier again, even after my disastrous self-check-out experience this morning. #ewgc

I'm also eager to read John Searles's next book, SINGLE GIRLS (July), based on the early career of Helen Gurley Brown. Searles should know his stuff since he's been with Cosmo for a long time. #ewgc

Christina Baker Kline has a new book coming out next May, THE FOURSOME, based on the marriages of Chang and Eng. Apparently, it's based on the author's distant relatives. I am very eager to read it. #ewgc

Clare Caro Burke's April release, YESTERYEAR, is getting a lot of attention and rightly so. I think we all need a good time-travel novel, and this harkens back to Marlis Milhiser's THE MIRROR, one of my favorite books. #EWGC

I gasped when I saw that Patricia Cornwell has a memoir coming out in May, TRUE CRIME. I remember the warm welcome she received with her first book (both me and library patrons) in 1989. This promises to be "achingly honest," so we shall see... #ewgc

The next Alice Feeney psychological suspense, MY HUSBAND'S WIFE (late January), is a doozy and a mindblower. I'm still not sure I figured everything out, but it's one of her best books to date. #ewgc

Still catching up from 2025 pubs but I read a few good ones coming this winter/spring. 1st is a novella from #NetGalley by the popular author, Gregg Hurwitz, THE DELIVERY (June). It read at a breakneck pace but will still scare you with what AI could become. #ewgc

I'm sorry to say I may or may not make it today; seems Thursdays have become our errand day and it's "iffy" if we'll be home in time for GC. I timed a few books to post but I'm still not reading as many forthcoming books but thinking that will change soon. #ewgc

I know I'm not alone in choosing THE CORRESPONDENT by Virginia Evans as my top choice for #libfaves25 . This book inspired a long-distance friend and me to start writing monthly letters, and it is a lovely feeling of reconnection.

My day 9 #libfabes25 choice is Cameron Crowe's THE UNCOOL. Little did he know that he was actually "ultra" cool when he was a teenager & touring with bands of the 1970s to write articles for Rolling Stone magazine. And then went on to write and direct movies, including Almost Famous.

My #libfaves25 choice for day 8 is Clare Leslie Hall's novel, BROKEN COUNTRY. You'll cry and you'll cheer in this tale of what happens to a family when a lost love reappears in their lives.

You guys, I am discovering so many new books I missed during #libfaves25 that I am maxing out my library holds! And there are still 3 days left!

My choice for day 7 of #libfaves25 is Jennifer E Smith's FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. At their famous sister's request, four estranged siblings gather for a weekend of revelations. I needed a Costco-sized box of tissues for this "family finding family" tale.

This is a repeat as I forgot the #libfaves25 tag. Today's favorite book for #libfaves is the little-known FREE RIDE: Heartbreak, Courage, and the 20,000-Mile Motorcycle Journey that Changed My Life. Noraly's experiences in riding a motorcycle around the world are jaw-dropping and fascinating.

Today's choice for #libfaves25 is Deanne Raybourn's wonderfully entertaining thriller, KILLS WELL WITH OTHERS, featuring the return of the kick-ass 60-something women assassins introduced in KILLERS OF A CERTAIN AGE.

Missed yesterday #libfaves25 so catching up. I loved Patrick Ryan's historical family novel, BUCKEYE. At the close of WWII, two families become entwined and spend the next 40 years trying to overcome their mistakes.

Day 3 #libfaves25 choice is SOFTLY, AS I LEAVE YOU by Priscilla Presley. There were times I thought she was a bit of an unreliable narrator but was still engrossed in her life. Pair this with her daughter's memoir, FROM HERE TO THE GREAT UNKNOWN, for a "mom said/daughter said" comparison.

Day 2's choice for #libfaves25 is Janelle Brown's WHAT KIND OF PARADISE. Set in the 1990s, at the dawn of the internet, this is a coming-of-age character study tinged with intrigue.

I hope I made the deadline for today's #libfaves25 ! Coming in at number 10 is THE HARVEY GIRLS by Juliette Fay. I loved learning about the highly trained waitresses who worked in the restaurants on the Santa Fe Railway plus following Billie and Charlotte's trajectory toward a better life.

The next GalleyChat is scheduled for January 1, but since it's the holiday, shall we move it to January 8, 2026? If that works for everyone, we'll plan on it. #ewgc

I haven't read it, but how can you resist a historical novel about Anne Boleyn —only after she is beheaded does she return to life to exact revenge? THE BEHEADING GAME by Rebecca Lehmann comes out in March. DRC is on Edelweiss. #ewgc

Another author who writes about "found families" is Ethan Joella, and I adored his previous book, SAME BRIGHT STARS. I was excited to see a new book coming out in June, TOP OF THE WORLD. #ewgc

Many of you most likely are aware that the popular author, Viola Shipman, is actually Wade Rouse, and he is releasing a new novel in March, THAT'S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR, which gives THE GUNCLE vibes. Sounds like fun. #ewgc

Four prominent authors have new books coming out this spring. Ann Patchett's WHISTLER (June, no DRC), Richard Russo's) UNDER THE FALLS (Aug, Edelweiss), Elizabeth Berg's LIFE (March, DRC on NetGalley), and Elizabeth Strout's THINGS WE NEVER SAY (May but no DRC or even entry on Edelweiss). #ewgc

I love Eileen Garvin's novels about "found family," and am excited about her next book,, BUMBLEBEE SEASON (April) as I loved her first book, MUSIC OF THE BEES. #ewgc

Shari Lapena has another intriguing domestic suspense novel coming out next July, GETTING AWAY WITH MURDER. I loved her last book and can't wait to read this one. DRC is already on Edelweiss. #ewgc

Shannon McKenna Schmidt's YOU CAN'T CATCH US (March) is a fascinating look at Lady Bird Johnson's campaign journey in the deep south for her husband. I love this author's way of engaging the average reader in a little-known historical event. #ewgc

I am so excited to get an early copy of Willy Vlautin's next book, THE LEFT AND THE LUCKY (April). I'm expecting a heart-rending story of people I won't want to let go when the story ends. #ewgc

Laura Hamilton's THE FOURTH WIFE (March) was a fascinating historical gothic featuring the young 4th wife who comes to the crumbling mansion who not only has to learn the ways of the sister wives but also how to handle a ghost. #ewgc

I'm always up for a good caper/heist thriller, and Michael Kardos's FUN CITY HEIST (December) did not disappoint. Plus, it's a short, quick, and compelling read. #ewgc

Virginia Hume's last book, HAVEN POINT, was an absorbing family drama, and her next book, LIBERTY ISLAND (May), promises the same kind of reading experience.

Psychological suspense I'm eager to read: Ashley Elston's ANATOMY OF AN ALIBI (Jan), Joshilyn Jackson's MISSING SISTER (March), T. M. Logan's ROOM IN THE ATTIC (Jan), and more adventure than psychological, but Stephen Fishbach's ESCAPE! is based on his Survivor experiences. #ewgc

I'm a huge fan of "industry insiders" type of nonfiction and James Martin's WORK IN PROGRESS appears to be a quick and informative read. #ewgc

If Rachel Lithgow inherited any of her father's (John Lithgow) talent and charm, her memoir, YEAR OF REALLY BAD DATES (early November), should be an interesting book. #ewgc

One of my favorite novelists is Alison Winn Scotch, and her next book, INSOMNIACS (April), has a very intriguing premise -- a combo of "found family" and a mystery. Can't wait to read it. #ewgc

Shannon McKenna Schmidt writes engaging nonfiction, and she has found her niche in researching and writing about lesser-known events of famous women. Her next book, YOU CAN'T CATCH US, is about Lady Bird Johnson's 1964 campaign train for her husband, Lyndon B., and is now available as a DRC. #ewgc

Laura Dave's THE FIRST TIME I SAW HIM, a sequel to THE LAST THING HE TOLD ME, comes out in early January. I'm finally ready to dive in now that I was able to read the ending of the first book, so I could remember how it ended! #ewgc
