Update. The Korean ship is carrying grain or produce to the Philippines. The Chinese ships have not returned. Since China suspended log purchases, we have mainly been shipping US produce to Japan and South Korea. Losing another trade partner will devastate the local economy. We voted for this.

Are they cute? These brothers are mountain barn cats. They patrol the forest and keep pests away, including large predators. They are 9 years old, gray and battle scarred, with no desire to retire and live in the house. They threaten to kill me every time I suggest it. Meet Marv and Greebo. #cats

We had a good-sized crowd in Longview today - probably a couple thousand people showed up and marched around the civic center. The counter-protest was two guys with a Trump flag, and a dog. #nokings

Newts make very amusing pets. You never see them move, but every time you look at them, they are in a different position. Mine adapted quickly to captivity and they even seem to like it. They get free food and fresh water and they don't have to spend the summer buried underground. 🦕 #herps

The Interfor #sawmill has a glut of logs and unsold #lumber. It looks like they are running out of room. The oldest wood is in the upper left and you can see it is already spoiling in the rain. #Longview has been a mill town for a hundred years. Closing a mill would be a catastrophe.
