Day 162 of posting games I own. This time, Kuon no Kizuna Sairinsyo for Dreamcast. In this novel game, our protagonist's strange dreams are tied into a story of love and reincarnation that plays out across the Heian, Genroku, and Bakumatsu periods, and the present.

Day 161 of posting games I own. This time, Bishoujo Hanafuda Kikou Michinoku Hitou Koi Monogatari Special for Sega Saturn. Romance game about a guy traveling to take photos for a contest instead of inheriting his folks' hanafuda school and the girl he meets by chance and enlists as a model.

Day 160 of posting games I own. This time, Cyber Troopers Virtual On for Sega Saturn. Spent a couple hours playing this for the first time today. I'd been meaning to for awhile, but it's a bit of a pain setting the twin-sticks up on my desk. I wasn't good at it, and got killed a lot, but had fun!

Day 159 of posting games I own. This time, Amagami for PSP. Been working through this one off and on over the course of this year. The format with lots of short scenes that you select from a grid made it pretty easy to pick up and put down. Still a bunch of mahjong content to go back to sometime.

Day 158 of posting games I own. This time, Momotarou Densetsu II for PC Engine. When it turns out that reforming the oni through the power of love, courage, and violence didn't stick the first time, Momotarou has to travel around the world teaching the oni a lesson again. This time with friends!

Day 157 of posting games I own. This time, July for Dreamcast. This "seikimatsu cinematic suspense" game follows a university student who miraculously survived a bus bombing and the escaped test subject taking revenge on people connected to a shady pharma corp that's connected to that bombing.

Day 156 of posting games I own. This time, Bluesteel Variable Formula -Space Griffon- for Dreamcast. As the new guy on a team of mecha pilots working for a PMC owned by a shady corporation, you're sent to investigate the lunar city HAMLET which suddenly went silent.

Day 155 of posting games I own. This time, Another Code: Futatsu no Kioku on Nintendo DS. Pulled out the DS for the first time in a while to play this mystery game about searching for your dad who abandoned you eleven years ago with your newfound ghost buddy.

Day 154 of posting games I own. This time, Dancing Blade Katte ni Momotenshi II ~Tears of Eden~ Kanzenban for the Dreamcast Continuing on the Momotaro theme, I went back to watch the second volume of this branching anime OVA masquerading as a game. I like the stylized cover for the DC release.

Day 153 of posting games I own. This time, Momotarou Densetsu Turbo for PC Engine. This lightly comedic Dragon Quest clone follows the story of a boy born from a peach as he travels to Onigashima to teach the oni the meaning of love and courage. Violently.

Day 152 of posting games I own. This time, Tengai Makyou: Ziria for the PC Engine. A Dragon Quest clone in a fantasy Japan setting that takes advantage of being a CD game by including lots of voiced lines. I'd stalled out on this so long I almost lost my save at one point, but finished it today.

Day 151 of posting games I own. This time, Team Innocent for the PC-FX. A short sci-fi survival horror game that layers 2D sprites over pre-rendered 3D with occasional animated cut scenes. The controls took some getting used to, and it struggles against technical limitations, but it's a good time.

Day 150 of posting games I own. This time, Ihatovo Monogatary for SFC. A man arrives at Ihatovo Station. Everyone he meets there is a big fan of local author Kenji Miyazawa, so he decides to meet him, but Kenji's always busy, so he ends up searching for the author's missing notebooks instead.

Day 149 of posting games I own. This time, Brain Lord for Super Famicom. This was a nice, short action RPG with a forgettable plot about finding a dragon and killing a demon lord, but it plays well, and the puzzles and platforming were just the right difficulty to not be too boring or frustrating.

Day 148 off posting games I own. This time, Akai Ito on Playstation 2. In this yuri horror vn, Kei returns to the countryside to inspect the house she inherited after her mother's passing. A house that appears in her dreams. A house near the sacred tree where she once lost someone important.

Day 147 of posting random games I own. This time, Zettai Zetsumei Toshi/Disaster Report for PS2. Put a few hours into this one today. Having fun exploring the city as it falls apart around me. Making the island sink into the sea behind you as you progress sure is one way to eliminate backtracking.

Day 146 of posting games I own. This time, Gunslinger Girl Volume.1 for Playstation 2. Didn't have a lot of time to play games this week, so opted for something short, and this anime-based rail shooter about little girl assassins and their handlers fit the bill.

Day 145 of posting games I own. This time, Minna Daisuki Katamari Damacy for PS2. My first Katamari experience. My sister's friend brought over the demo and I watched them play the level where you roll up origami cranes in a school. I was instantly sold on it. Ran out to buy a copy the same day.

Day 144 of posting games I own. This time, Forever Blue/Endless Ocean for the Wii. I picked up this game (and a Wii U with it) to fill the Everblue shaped hole in my heart. Does it do that? Not really. They're very different games. But it lets me pat manta rays and penguins. Highly therapeutic.

Day 143 of posting games I own. This time, Hyouryuuki for the Playstation. This is a remake of Mujintou Monogatari for the Super Famicom which I played years and years ago. Your plane crashes and you wash up on a not-so desert isle where you'll have to work with the other survivors to escape.

Day 142 of posting games I own. This time, Everblue 2 for the Playstation 2. I thought I was going to leave this one for later, but the first one sank its hooks into me deeply enough that I ended up immediately diving back in.

Day 141 of posting games I own. This time, Everblue for the Playstation 2. Decided I wanted to play something a bit different from the usual yesterday and pulled out this game about exploring shipwrecks for treasure. Ended up playing it for about eight hours straight. It's really good!

Day 140 of posting games I own. This time, Tales of Destiny 2 for the Playstation 2. Building on Eternia's combat system, this installment adds a whole bunch more complexity to it...not always for the better. It has a good cast and engaging plot, though, so I'm more than happy to overlook that.

Day 139 of posting games I own. This time, Moonlight Syndrome for Playstation. After stepping in to finish Twilight Syndrome, Suda went on to do this follow-up where he had more freedom to do his own thing, and he sure took advantage of that freedom, both for better and for worse.

Day 138 of posting games I own. This time, Gensou Suikogaiden Vol. 1 for the Playstation. In this anthology Nash travels with a vampire, infiltrates a Highland Army camp, is hunted by Seed and Culgan, and leads the defenders in the Siege of Greenhill while being targeted by a man from his past.

Day 137 of posting games I own. This time, Bealphareth for the Playstation. There's a town above a dungeon where a stone of immortality was found long ago, and fourteen youths of varying backgrounds have arrived to explore it. Basic premise, but the presentation and world building elevates it.

Day 136 of posting games I own. This time, Galaxy Angel for PS2. Here's the first game in the franchise often referred to as "Sakura Wars in space." It definitely has a different vibe than the anime, with the cast on the run with the sole heir to the Transbaal Empire after escaping a coup.

Day 135 of posting games I own. This time, The Witch of Salzburg for Playstation. A group of Japanese academics visit a castle on the German-Austrian border where, in the 16th century, a woman bathed in the blood of young women in order to regain her youth before being burned at the stake.

Day 134 of posting games I own. This time, Phantasy Star Collection on Sega Saturn. This one has always felt like one of the larger gaps in my RPG knowledge, so I've been looking forward to filling it in. This set has all four games, along with some commercials from when they were released.

Day 133 of posting games I own. This time, Flower, Sun, and Rain for the Playstation 2. Currently playing this surreal puzzle game about a man and his briefcase, Katharine, caught in a time loop as he tries to defuse a bomb on a plane...but can't even make it to the front desk of the hotel so far.

Day 132 of posting games I own. This time, Tales of Eternia for the Playstation. There were a few years in between Destiny's release and Eternia, and it shows. The combat is much improved, and the new style for skits absolutely gives them a lot more character. Enjoying it a lot so far.

Day 131 of posting games that I own. This time, Tenchi wo Kurau for the Famicom. This is a Romance of the Three Kingdoms RPG that loosely follows the story from the Peach Garden Pledge up to when you take over Shu, but then Wu and Wei both invade at the same time and you have to conquer everyone.

Day 130 of posting games I own. This time, Breath of Fire IV on the Playstation. This was the first game I played in the series, and it still worked great without any background on it. I don't want to spoil anything, but I really liked a certain reveal about Ershin and the alternate ending.

Day 129 of posting games I own. This time, Shinsenden for the Famicom. This is a Dragon Quest clone with a plot about stopping a demon king from collecting the swords of the four kings (Genbu, Suzaku, Byakko and Souryuu) and unleashing some horrible thing that's manipulating him into the world.

Day 128 of posting games I own. This time, Final Fantasy Advance for GBA. When this game came out, I pre-ordered it, and then spent an unhealthy number of hours playing it that first couple of weeks. The setting felt like a downgrade, and I hated the laws system, but it was still that addictive.

Day 127 of posting games I own. This time, Namco Prism Zone: Dream Master for the Famicom. This puzzle RPG was a pleasant surprise. The princess has been trapped in a dream by the evil Black Master, and all of the other dream masters in the land have failed to rescue her, so now it's your turn.

Day 126 of posting games I own. This time, Jesus: Kyoufu no Bio Monster for the Famicom. I kept running into boxed copies of this for the MSX2, and loved the silly title, so when I found out there was a Famicom port, I knew I had to have it.

Day 125 of posting games I own. This time, Final Fantasy Tactics for the Playstation. It's Easter, so here's a classic game where you fight against not-Jesus and his evil zodiac apostles. Did playing this when I was, like, eleven years old speed along my loss of interest in the church? Possibly.

Day 124 of posting games I own. This time, STED: Iseki Wakusei no Yabou for Famicom. I spent the past few days playing through this incredibly grindy sci-fi RPG. It has a pretty basic plot. An ancient system is producing monsters, and you arrive in response to a distress call to put an end to it.

Day 123 of posting games that I own. This time, Dewprism/Threads of Fate for the Playstation. I had a playable demo of this as a kid, but could never find a copy of the full game, so I was happy to finally be able to play this when I started collecting again. This copy came in a nifty sleeve.

Day 122 of posting games I own. This time, Princess Crown for the Sega Saturn. This game is absolutely gorgeous, but the combat just isn't clicking for me, and having your equipment break so easily just feels kind of terrible. I'm only a few hours in, though, so not throwing in the towel yet!

Day 121 of posting games I own. This time, Neutopia for the PC Engine. This is an unapologetic Zelda clone, complete with wall-bombing and tree-burning to find secrets. It feels quite polished, though, so maybe that makes up for it not being the most original of games.

Day 120 of posting games I own. This time, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (or The Invited 13 according to the JP title) for the Gamecube. Off-brand Lovecraftian survival horror with a sanity mechanic so good they went and patented it. I enjoyed the humorous sanity effects like getting a BSoD.

Day 119 of posting games I own. This time, Fire Emblem: Souen no Kiseki for Gamecube. This is the first Fire Emblem game I've played since the first one they put out on GBA in North America. I'm on Chapter 10 at the moment and having a great time with it so far.

Day 118 of posting games I own. This time, Slime Morimori Dragon Quest: Shougeki no Shippo-dan for the Gameboy Advance. When the Tail Gang attacks your village and kidnaps all your friends and family, it's time for you, a lone slime, to head out and rescue everyone in this action-adventure game.

Day 117 of posting games I own. This time, Mother 2/Earthbound for the Super Famicom. I know I posted the GBA port not that long ago, but I finished the game for the first time a couple days ago, and it absolutely sticks the landing, so here's my copy of the original too.

Day 116 of posting games I own. This time, Dragon Quest 1&2 for the Super Famicom. I was originally going to play the Famicom version of DQ2 last year, but then I realized that it required lengthy passwords and very quickly decided against that idea. Luckily, this SFC port had me covered.

Day 115 of posting games I own. This time, Soul Blader/Soul Blazer for Super Famicom. This action RPG by Quintet is centered around one of my favorite mechanics: restoring a town by rescuing NPCs. There's just something satisfying about it even when most the townsfolk don't do anything useful.

Day 114 of posting games I own. This time, Mujintou Monogatari R for the Sega Saturn. The title lies. There are a bunch of natives living on this "uninhabited" island you're stuck on. Also, the Americans are planning to use it for an atomic bomb test, so you'd better find a way to escape soon.
