So many different textures on the score for PROJECT HAIL MARY - one of them is a variety of bowls of water that are subtly used to double percussion in a number of moments..

This is the sign they made for my door when I was working on #ProjectHailMary.. (And yes, I did ride a bike to work…)

THE DRAMA is maybe one of my most minimal scores I have done. Entire soundtrack was recorded on just three flutes at Abbey Road in one day. Really enjoyed the process of those types of restrictions as they can help create a more original and unique sounding score..

So #MastersOfTheUniverse is going to surprise a lot of people because it is a TON OF FUN. Have had such a blast writing the music for it - but you'll have to wait till June to hear it..(not my stuff in trailer!) Have gone full out maximalism. Guitars. Choirs. Orchestra. Synths. Drums. More Guitars.

So one of the real unsung heroes of the #ProjectHailMary soundtrack is the amazing Sam Okell who has to help make all my ridiculous ideas fit in one mix. Here’s him going through all the crazy number of stems we recorded to just one cue (AMAZE AMAZE AMAZE). Mad listen! 🔈👎👎

Had an amazing time yesterday seeing #projecthailmary my favourite way - in a regular screening at a cinema full of people.. and not just any cinema but possibly my favourite one - the BFI IMAX - two familiar characters popped up at the start too!

This evening we finally finished recording the #MastersOfTheUniverse score. Possibly my most maximalist work ever - 5644 takes across the entire soundtrack! It’s been a huge amount of fun, excited for it to enter the world later this year.. thanks to our amazing music crew below who got us there!

So there was the first ever rave at Abbey Road Studio One with the amazing Soulwax on the decks this evening.. and it got shut down by the police which feels like the lost poetic ending we could have had! Gonna take the amazing energy from the room for recording there next week..

Saw SIRAT tonight at the BFI IMAX. Spectacular piece of film making that will stay with you for a very long time. The music too is fantastically filthy (what distortion!).. Warning though - the whole experience is ridiculously intense.. still trying to calm down hours later…

On a seaside walk this weekend came across completely by chance the absolutely amazing MUSEUM OF NOT OBSOLETE TECH in Ramsgate.. A mind blowing space filled with all manner of circuit bent tech and synths from LOOKMUMNOCMPUTR CRAZY INSPIRING SPACE 👇

Ended 2025 randomly discovering actual original manuscripts by Beethoven (insanely chaotic pen work beat by beat!), Mozart and Messiaen (very tidy which is insane as written in a POW camp) in Paris.. absolutely breathtaking and made me a little bit emotional.. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
