The threats to our elections have been growing since January of last year, but this past week alone, the temperature started rising, fast and dangerous.

My heart is heavy with the news and images coming out of Minnesota. Our country is suffocating under the pressure and divisiveness of this administration. While we're still learning the facts, some things are clear: There is no compassion, no deescalation and no restraint.

We're still waiting for all the details, but we see exactly what's going on: this administration is sending militarized federal agents into our communities with deadly consequences. It's not okay, and we will hold them accountable without giving them the chaos they want.

“ProPublica examined months of Fox News’ coverage and reviewed over 700 videos posted on social media. The network used five-year-old footage… and implied footage from elsewhere was in Portland.” The President’s portrayal of Portland was a manufactured story, the reality is a city rising.

As Thanksgiving week approaches, I’m grateful for the strength and resilience shown across Oregon this year. Community is what makes us stronger.
