I loved The Jam and The Style Council, but Iāve never been that keen on much of Wellerās solo work. This, however, is just terrific, a mix of ⦠everything, really.

Tonightās gig at the New Morning. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Some beautiful guitar from Dujardin, with the great Manu Katche on drums. And I havenāt heard much accordion in this kind of setting before, but it really fitted in nicely.

In Fopp today, browsing Neil Young CDs, and I was just astonished by the price. These are standard UK issues in cardboard sleeves, and they are asking £28 each ($38 US). So I asked the assistant to check the price. She said there was no mistake - they had gone up recently. Madness.

Went shopping today and picked up these two. Both the band Bruford and Antās solo work will be new to me when I get around to playing them.

The promoter was selling these Kenny Wheeler CDs at last nightās Simcock/Rawicz gig. Unreleased session from 1995, produced by Evan Parker. Advance copies, itās not officially out yet. So I thought Iād give it a try. Tomorrow though. Itās well past my bedtime.

Local Oxfam window this morning. Not cheap, but also not the kind of thing you see in charity shops every day. I did go in, hopeful of racks full of ECM, but sadly there were just those two.

Well, last night actually. Hadnāt heard of it. Very good. Directed by Joseph Mankiewicz, with music by Bernard Herrman. And James Mason as smooth as ever. That voice, love it.

Just bought tickets for Caravan and Yes. Caravan was a no-brainer as I was supposed to see them for the first time last year but something came up. Yes, a bit ambivalent as thereās only Steve Howe left from the ā70s heyday, but Iām sure it will still be good. Last saw them at the Palladium in 2018.
