On this final day of 2025, I’m stepping briefly out of my self-imposed hibernation to share a few thoughts about the future of Life Beyond the Supremacy Myth. I began this year holding onto two fragile hopes:

I can’t believe that my professional year has come to an end. In just a few short hours, I’ll be logging out of all social media, email, and even the PWO Community and I won’t return until February 1, 2026. For years, I’ve been intentionally reshaping my life to more closely follow the seasons.

When I talk about Profit Without Oppression, I’m not talking about tearing down every economic idea we’ve inherited. I’m talking about telling the truth about how those ideas have been practiced and the harm those practices continue to produce.

I facilitated my final PWO Community event for the year this past Saturday, and as I prepare for my yearly “hibernation,” something’s been off. I’ve been trying to name the feeling, to place the source of this restlessness. This year is ending with far more clarity than it began,

I’ve spent years watching the consequences of white men guessing, and sometimes outright making shit up, while holding immense power over our economy and society. Take my time at the Chicago Stock Exchange.

A recent article in The Washington Post, Trump's Attack On DEI May Hurt College Men, Particularly White Men, highlights a paradox: Trump’s attacks on DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) programs are framed as protecting white men, but they’re actually setting them up to fail.

When I talk about Life Beyond the Supremacy Myth, some of you, especially white men, ask, “But what can I actually do?” And here’s the truth you’re rarely told: This work is a tangible way for white men to repair the harm done in your name.

You know why I can extend grace to white men who are genuinely trying to live life beyond the supremacy myth? Because I know what it feels like to desperately want to understand something, to want to change, to want to do better and still be unable to find the help you need.

After I shared my recent reflection on being labeled “intimidating,” a member of the PWO Community offered this response. He affirmed something I already knew, that for many white men, it’s the first time they’ve encountered a Black woman who says “no” without softening it, explaining it,

Fourteen weeks of Facilitated Conversations with Kim Crayton – Mediocre did more than challenge six white men to confront their conditioning. It fundamentally reshaped how I approach my work as a business advisor guided by the Profit Without Oppression (PWO) principles:

For the past 14 weeks, I’ve been guiding a cohort of you through Mediocre: The Dangerous Legacy of White Male America by Ijeoma Oluo. What started as a reading assignment quickly revealed something unmistakable: You have been expected to give what you were never taught to have.

We held the final session of Facilitated Conversations with Kim Crayton yesterday, and there are some things I want to share. First, I want to thank the six white men who showed up week after week, for 14 straight weeks, and engaged honestly with this work. What we created together wasn’t static.

MTG could finish her term. She could use her remaining time in office to demonstrate this supposed “change of heart.” She could begin the long process of repairing the harm she’s inflicted. And she could simply choose not to run for reelection.

The myth of white supremacy has sold you a life of anxiety, doubt, and ongoing fear—packaged as masculinity. It encourages you to build a lived experience of feeling trapped and then has the audacity to call that “freedom.”

MTG’s apology has to be understood through the lens of what’s actually happening: the parasite of the myth of white supremacy is finally beginning to devour its host. This clash, white supremacists turning against each other, was always inevitable.

I’ve spent the past few months watching white media, traditional and independent, twist itself into knots trying to “explain” the fracturing happening within the right-wing coalition. And the unfortunate truth is this: nothing has changed.

One of the least acknowledged consequences of the myth of white supremacy is the deep cynicism it breeds in all of us. And I don’t mean discernment. I don’t mean healthy boundaries. I don’t mean strategic awareness. I mean cynicism:

There’s a truth I need you to sit with: White male loneliness isn’t a crisis because it’s new. It’s a crisis because it’s finally being named. For generations, white men have been conditioned by the myth of white male supremacy to disconnect from their own humanity.

One thing that I suspected, from working with my white male business advising clients, and that has now been confirmed in the Facilitated Conversations with Kim Crayton – Mediocre sessions is this truth: white male loneliness is not new.

So much of navigating professional spaces as a Black woman requires an ongoing conversation with yourself. A constant reminder that you know what you know, that you deserve what you ask for, and that your presence in spaces designed against you matters.

You know the one. The myth of “hard work,” “personal responsibility,” and “deservingness.” The myth that says if someone is hungry, it’s their fault.
