As I reach the end of my classic #DoctorWho rewatch, I find myself feeling a bit sentimental -- and tempted to jump back to "An Unearthly Child" and start the journey all over again!

The American #DoctorWho: The Collection releases are disappointing. No informational booklet, no individual disc art, and renumbering them by Doctor. I'm glad I figured out the UK versions worked in the US. Still have a few seasons I am tempted to double-dip.

Watching the "Making Of" documentary on "Fenric," I'm fascinated by Cartmel's concern that by editing the story down, he'd ruined it. I hope he knows he didn't but I appreciate the dedication he felt to wanting to make #DoctorWho the best version of itself it could be.

I wonder if revisiting Fenric as one of the pantehon was ever considered. Kind of grateful RTD didn't look there. He would have fundamentally misunderstood one of my favorite stories and probably tried to diminish it. #DoctorWho

I loved the "Fenric" Target novel so much and was delighted when it got an audiobook a decade or so ago. I was nervous the story wouldn't hold up. It does. I count as it one of my favorite books. Somewhere, my AP English teacher is rolling her eyes about this post. #DoctorWho

The Target novel of "Fenric" expanded the story in ways that I absolutely adored then -- and still do. From a sequence that shows the Doctor's original battle with Fenric to the history of Millington and Judson, it all connected for this fan. One of the best. #DoctorWho

"Fenric" echoes every era of #DoctorWho, from the historic settings of early stories to monsters from every era. And yet, it still feels like a story that essentially fits the Seventh Doctor's era. It's also a reason I'm glad classic Who came back after the '86 hiatus,

A "Fenric" DVD extra features Mark Ayres discussing how the serial had to rearrange cliffhangers. Part one was supposed to end with the soldier waking up underwater. It's an eerie moment, very different from the regular #DoctorWho cliffhanger we do get.

The only surprise from "Fenric" I sussed out on first viewing was that the baby was Ace's mom. But, I'll give Cartmel and Briggs credit for making the reveal such an instrumental part of the story and Ace's character journey. #DoctorWho

Did Cartmel have "Fenric" in mind when he and Ian Briggs created Ace? I can't say for sure. I was convinced he did when I originally saw the story. I was the #DoctorWho fan this story was designed for. I still love it. My favorite story of all-time.

Close to 40 years later, I'm still stunned by the Doctor's breaking Ace's faith in him from the end of "Fenric." My jaw fell to the floor the first time I heard him say, "Kill her." McCoy's dark Doctor is on full display here. #DoctorWho youtu.be/JvNRUgPZwLU?...

Given that "Fenric" was produced first in the season and "Ghost Light" last, it would be easy to see how #DoctorWho might drop the ball on Ace's character arc for the season. And yet, the show doesn't. Instead, it creates something special for the classic series final season.

"You always know. You just can't be bothered to tell anyone." "Fenric" goes from the gentle teasing between the Doctor and Ace to start the story to this pivotal scene where Ace confronts the Doctor. Absolutely perfect moment. Masterfully done by #DoctorWho.

One thing I love about “Fernric” is the idea that faith—belief in something—can hold off the Haemovores. Took me a couple watches to catch that the Doctor is actually reciting the names of his companions to protect himself during the church attack. Loved that detail #DoctorWho

I go back and forth on which performance I think is McCoy's definitive as the Doctor, "Greatest Show" or "Fenric." Both scripts lean heavily into his strengths and give him one heck of a showcase. #DoctorWho

For the record, I consider the VHS release of "Curse of Fernic" as the definitive version of this story. I was pleased to see it included on the BluRay sets as I've probably worn out my VHS copy. I wish they'd done a bit of upgrade work to it for BluRay though. #DoctorWho

"We play the contest again, Time Lord..." Even in feature format, I knew this was the cliffhanger for episode three of "Fenric." It was a stunning moment that had me gobsmacked on first viewing. Still one of -- if not THE -- best #DoctorWho cliffhangers.

Mark Ayres stakes his claim as one of the best #DoctorWho music composers of all-time with the score for "The Curse of Fenric." I had the soundtrack on CD and listened to it over and over again. Simply wonderful.

"The Curse of Fenric" was the first Seventh Doctor story I saw in episode format, thanks to the extended VHS cut. I still prefer the VHS cut as my definitive version of the story simply because it includes the cliffhangers. #DoctorWho

There was just something about "The Curse of Fenric" that enthralled me on first viewing -- and has with every viewing since. It's my favorite #DoctorWho story. Wonderful in every way.

We can lob a lot of criticism at JNT. But I want to give him credit for keeping so much material from seasons 23-26. It's almost like he knew someday there would be a physical media that would require all this extra stuff and that #DoctorWho fans would love every second of it

The guest cast for "Ghost Light" is superb. So much of the success of this one comes down to the performance and, man, everyone just commits to the part and goes for it. #DoctorWho
