I bought this portable Viewsonic monitor for my microscope for soldering work. But I use it more to work on PCs than anything. It also means I need to get back into modding and repair work.

Merry Christmas but 75° and running my AC on Christmas doesn’t feel like Christmas at all. Halloween didn’t feel like it either since it was 90°. Global warming sucks and I want consistently cold October - December.

Working on the last SFF PC refresh for realistically a long long time. I had a feeling hardware availability would tank but didn’t respect it to be this bad. My squad of X3D AM5s should get me to 2029/2030. Kidding but not. :-/ Glad I always went 64gb minimum in ram.

First SFF (re)build is finished. AIO, Arc B580 (will fit 4070super) with a Asus Strix B650E-I running a 7800X3D. Temps are great considering the slim radiator/fans and GPU literally mm’s apart. All crammed into a Fractal Ridge.

Talking about SFF: “Oh yeah SFF is the way to go, you can have all the performance and minimal drawbacks. Only my main gaming rig is full size, I love mini itx. “ Working on SFF builds: “Oh god I hate this cable management is such a pain why is it like this I want the pain to stop.”

PC/Server pricing is just unbelievable, I paid $350 for this memory kit 11 days ago (11/07/2025). Now it's almost $800 and prices are continuing to going up. I bought some ECC DDR4 for the home lab Feb/March 2025, $380 for 512gb. Now just 128gb ECC DDR4 is $370 dollars.

Last refresh for a long time. Realistically until AM6 and post AI bubble. Ive got a 9950X3D, 9800X3D and 7800X3D based rigs. I can’t imagine anything on AM5 fast enough to warrant replacing the 9950/9800X3D. Now GPUs are different story, but I’m solid on those at the moment as well

My copy of Concord and Google Stadia came in today. Wow I don’t know what one I’ll play first. So exciting. I bet 2026 is year of Stadia and Concord!

I’ve been into mini pcs and picked up this little one. GMKtec Evo-X1 Mini PC AMD Ryzen AI 370. Packs a Radeon 890m. Still disappointed I missed the amazing Apple M4 MacMini deal, but that sold out like it was a Final Fantasy x Magic the Gathering drop.

I got into the Final Fantasy: Trading Card Game, because Magic is a gateway drug. The card art vs MTG is night and day, Wizard of the has high standards. FF: TCG can vary. However this card, is just amazing. 11/10 no notes. Wizards of the Coast needs to step their game up.

Finally some represent for the goodest boy, Torgal. Also Whiteheart is 100000x times cooler name than Ambrosia. Whiteheart is bad ass, took hit for Clive that everyone thought killed her, lost her eye to said injury. Then protected the citizens and travelers of Martha’s Rest becoming a legend.

Getting new art for older titles (titles that aren’t Fantasy VII) is great. While VII is amazing, there are plenty of great games that over overshadowed by it.

There it is… the best Magic the gathering x final fantasy card. Instant Ramen.

The Magic the Gathering x Final Fantasy prerelease kits are beautiful. The attention to detail and aesthetic, I love it what an amazing collection of Final Fantasy artwork.

Never been into Magic the Gathering, but they got me with Final Fantasy. Got this all MSRP, thanks Video Games Plus in OKC. This will go into my sealed collection. I’ve got more on the way but this is for Final Fantasy collection. The commander pack is shipping box sealed and still remain so.

Was only able to snag a pro controller from Walmart but still got a snack bag! Thankfully was able to snag a Switch 2 Mario Kart bundle for @myraccoonhands.com and myself. Launch deliveries from BestBuy and GameStop, I’ve also got a bunch of stuff I need to pickup in person at BestBuy tomorrow.

Been working on the home lab, installed a WiFi 6 AP I’ve been sitting on for a while. The 5g WiFi is more than 2x the old 5g AP, 6g WiFi saturated the connection. The AP should be getting a 2.5g link to my Cisco nexus with my 2gig symmetrical fiber internet. So in theory there’s more in it.

UnRaid/Plex/JellyFin/Audiobookshelf server upgrade day. Doubling the ram to 256gb and all matching and faster speed ram. Shot of the dual P1000 Quadro’s because hardware transcoding is where it’s at.

They weren’t lying, this is in fact cool.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is really fantastic and just a touch over an hour into it. I also got the Platinum in Returnal because I’ve lost control of my life.

Going to load up Peak, only heard amazing things about Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. So many good releases I need to play, Lunar Remaster, Fantasian Neo Dimension, I haven't played Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth since the PSP days.

Progress on the Sega Titan Video (S-TV). Either solder cracks on the 2nd CPU or a failed 2nd Hitachi SH2. Whole board probably needs a good reflow, common issue with them apparently.
