Luke Vargo's 2nd 1st authored paper was accepted for publication! We found a significant sex X distress intolerance (DI) X anxiety sensitivity (AS) interaction - DI was related to greater binge drinking frequency for men w/less AS, and for women w/greater AS. Way to GEAUX, Luke! @lsu.bsky.social

Great news! A second paper using Amelia Knox's (LSU '25) honors thesis data was accepted for publication! It's the 1st known study to test if imposter syndrome is related to cannabis problems & this relation occurred via social anxiety & coping motivated use. Great work! @lsupsychology.bsky.social

We found that although nearly all participants use "false safety behaviors" (designed to avoid or manage anxiety but can increase anxiety long-term), more FSB use is related to cannabis use & problems. We hope that research such as this can inform efforts to improve outcomes & reduce disparities.
