I have done so much trauma work, I can walk around the world with less vigilance and anxiety because of it AND I am still impacted by the trauma I experienced.

Let's start with something we can agree on, something we participated in occurred and it affected us. It does suck when there are unintended consequences to our actions AND we still have to own the impact whether intentional or not, that's adulting. Is it easy? No. Can we tolerate it? Absolutely.

I imagine it activates everyone. The knowing when to say something/ when not to, in scenarios like this, is ALWAYS the struggle for me. I am a killer with words when I want to be and that is rarely helpful when activated. The writing helps create the pause I need and the space to be more tolerant.

Both sides of the sentence are true the vast majority of the time and deserve to be acknowledged. This is complexity, holding all that is true at the same time.

Sometimes "i hear you" and repeating back what you heard isn’t enough. I hear a lot of things out in the world that I wasn’t listening for, and I’m not sure how relevant sound is without involving intention and compassion, especially when it comes from another human…. English is so frustrating?

In a world full of diverse voices, the real magic happens when we take the time to listen and understand each other.

Until we learn to acknowledge imperfection without shame, we carry the burdens of generations without realizing the choices we have in how we see ourselves and how we live our lives.

We have the most amazing ability to deny the things we wish weren’t true, AND we are each responsible for regulating these responses within us. At some point we are each forced into reality, it’s better to control when that happens right?

13-year-old activist stole the show at a recent city commission meeting in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The eloquent young lady named Naiara Tamminga attended the May 17, 2022 meeting to express her outrage over the killing of another unarmed Black man.
