It's such a bummer to see AI work its way onto this platform. I'm grateful to the communities here who actively avoid it. Every other place on the internet feels like a minefield of AI and I wish Bluesky would discourage AI slop posting here.

I accomplished something today. It wasn't what I was intending to accomplish, but that's just how it goes. Progress is progress.

Pulling up an old, abandoned digital sketch and having another go at it. It's a wonderful feeling even if it doesn't really accomplish anything.

Anyone here play Rust? I don't play, but I've found myself leaving streams of Rust players on while I work. It's not distracting and kind of fun to listen to the activity. How is it to actually play?

Struggling hard with how different blank cover stock interacts with different tools. Last one was too pulpy for a nib, and the one I'm working on is too glossy for ink. Tell me they've gotten better in recent years. I'm using old blank covers.

I've forgotten how much I hate drawing on sketch covers. Has the material gotten better over the years? I'm drawing on an older sketch cover and the ink wants to bleed like it's on tissue.

Netflix has recently added the film "Game Night" starring Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman from 2018. This movie is a hidden gem and if you ever need something to watch, this is guaranteed fun. It may even be a top ten film for me.

It's tough when you're experimenting to then pivot and do one thing for a while. Its take extra focus. I might not have new sketchbook pieces for a couple of days with the job I'm working on taking most of my time, but it's a cool one and all my anti-AI friends will love it.

Ever since giving up diet soda, I've been having amazing results. I don't crave sweets, water retention is down, and I'm eating less. Been a wonderful revelation.

Any day where OpenAI gets slapped around is a good day.

More playing with new pens and brush pens. This time a little Harley Quinn in the sketchbook. Trying to get a little bit of crazy in this one.

Detective Conan! This was so fun to sketch up in the sketchbook. It's not in my wheelhouse, which is exactly why I had to try. Getting a nice balance between controlled and expressive marks with the brush pen is something I'm getting more confidence with.

Lupin the Third! No cooler character exists. This is actually the first time putting pencil to paper in this sketchbook. But it's nice to add a step to the workflow. The pencils allowed me to be more purposeful with the ink likes rather than sketching in ink.

Took a shot at sketching Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop. My sketchbook may be a touch small and my pen may be a little broad for inking some of the details I attempted, but still happy with the result.

Just got my physical. Despite being overweight, I always test well. Somehow I managed to lose 33 lbs this year, which is pretty sweet. Still a long way to go, but happy for the progress.

Wanted to sketch in the waiting room of the doctor's office but I had a million pages of paperwork to fill out. None of the information has changed, but I still need to fill it all out.

It's frustrating to try to push through the noise, the slop, and the clippers flooding social media, just to be able to share what I'm passionate about. I'm grateful to everyone who sees my work, likes it, or shares it. These interactions between people are the sliver of humanity left on the web.

Going to have to start getting more adventurous with the sketchbook. I've been in my comfort zone as I've tried to get used to new tools, but I need to do something different to really grow my confidence and add to my toolbox.

It's a struggle every day to not use the Bane voice when saying "of course."

I feel like even just the little bit of time with my sketchbook has really helped me bring some new dimensions to my work. It's difficult when you're in the flow of your life to add new dynamics to your work, but it can be so important to growth.
