Made a joke last year that my new career goal was to be a talking head in a cryptid tv special or documentary. Might have to get a new joke.

Being a guy who talks about monsters is becoming a very fun little sidequest to being a guy who draws monsters.

The only thing I unequivocally do not like about married life is the amount of dudes who immediately see it as permission to make ball and chain jokes.

I am never more animated than when I’m talking with other comic artists in person. Not as common an occurrence as it probably should be! Gotta work on that one!

Nothing makes me feel less prepared for a con like being prepared for a con.

Used bookstores are always fun after someone drops off their collection. Whoever dropped off all the Michael Moorcock books and Richard Corben comics at once put me through some hard choices though.

Went to a Quilt Festival and got on my whole thing about how cool it all is as both an act of making art and one of archiving.

I have read and watched so many bigfoot things in the last few months and gone a little insane. But it should start paying off soon. Been finding some really goofy corners of Arkansas Bigfoot (hunter) history.

Nothing puts into perspective how little television you watch like visiting a parent. Not in that “so that’s who’s watching NCIS” way but that it’s on at full volume non-stop and largely indiscriminately.

Dunno if it’s Backwood Folk or the podcast but a lot of folks send me a lot more photos of old books than they used to. I’m a fan of this development.

Showed a bunch of my friends Viy last night. And that movie plays so well to a group, my lord. Just an incredible parade of oafs and magic tricks.

Seeing Shin Godzilla in theaters again today. Pretty thankful to get a redo of that after a 2016 showing that ended with me and a friend hissing and shouting at an entire audience chanting USA USA USA during a particular scene. Still my go to worst theater experience.

Just dunno how any guy sees whole cottage industries for junk products called Dude Wipes or whatever and just doesn't feel insanely condescended to.

Maybe everyone should be taking longer to take make their art and projects in general. The false sense of urgency only gets faker when there is a fire hose of stuff everyday.

Every now and again I think I made a real boneheaded decision to go the issue approach instead of the graphic novel approach with Backwood Folk. Then I flip through a newly finished issue and am like "nah, I'm still an episodes guy"

I'm not sure my first time comic recs would include a lot of superheroes. Depends on the person though. Though, I don't have a lot of one size fits all recs for the non comic reader.

There's not really a wrong way to approach art, but I definitely find the score card in hand approach fundamentally alien.

Really can’t underestimate how many rural folks who’ve never been to a city truly believe they are straight out of a John Carpenter movie. Probably the their biggest connection to the jackals in the penthouses who only interact with a city between the doors of their building and a town car.
