World building to me is just being barely ahead of you on the trail and excitedly shouting to hurry up and see this dumb new rock I found. If you're lucky I'll make a good story up on the spot about that rock. If you're really lucky it'll sound like I knew the story before we hit the trail. I didnt!

Dang oh dang what a good day Pride festivals in Northwest Arkansas still remain some of the best the Ozarks have to offer. Last bastion of a sort of southern kindness and community I was raised to aspire to.

I'll occasionally re-use backgrounds on some panels if the angle hasn't shifted, but I'm pretty hardline of never reusing a drawing of a character in another panel. Too much acting left on the table.

I dunno! I've seen an influx of band and show flyers that are handmade cut and paste or rudimentary photoshop affairs in my corner of the woods. I might still hold out on listening to what future is inevitable until it's people younger than me saying it.

I get it, I’ve complained about Star Wars and Marvel sucking up all the oxygen for a huge chunk of my adult life. But really if the mainstream zeitgeist isn’t to your taste you couldn’t exist in a better time to find corners and flavors that are.

Just managed to finally unearth an ancient hard drive and locate a whole treasure trove of lost art from the original run of the Backwood Folk webcomic all the way back in 2010ish. Might lose my night to this one.

The thing about reading gruesome horror novels for grown ups as a kid in rural Arkansas was that it gave you a crash course on which adults in your life were gunna be the kind to call your mom and warn them you were on the dark path, and which adults were normal.

There’s always someone saying some new variation of “Look if we don’t colorize these black and white movies the youths won’t watch them” and I think you can usually ignore them.

Haven’t drawn the big guy in probably a decade. Turns out drawing Godzilla is a lot like riding a bike. At least I have to imagine. I don’t know how to ride a bike. Maybe it’s a little like drawing Godzilla.

The long arc of social media making me feel like the worst Survivor contestant, constantly mumbling “but I was here to make friends”

You see podcasts and live radio compared a lot, but having done both in my past? Couldn’t be more different. They both drive you insane in totally different ways!

Back when I lived alone in the woods without reception I would always get a wrong number call on the landline from the same old woman. Always apologetic with a "shoot I did it again." Eventually it became a "so how are you anyways?" and it became a running little bit. Miss that kinda organic rapport

Basically was raised in the shadow of Dogpatch, and I have the vaguest memories of getting an owie at the playground. Also knew at least one married couple that met while being the park's Li'l Abner and Daisy Mae performers.

On top of Backwood Folk #3, I've got some more ghost story webomics cooking! Each looking a little more contemporary this time.
