Ok, #TheDreamLifeofMrKim low ratings, get it. No one wants to watch dramas abt work, esp. w/a petty blowhard whose mo is muttering passive-aggressive snark under his breath. But this drama's shaping up to be a black comedy gem & Ryu Seung Ryong will be getting Best Actor noms for this performance.

If you're not fond of men, watching #TheDreamLifeofMrKim and #LastSummer on their air dates will do you no favors.

Years ago, I heard the term "yelling drama" to describe kdramas where a person or persons scream as part of their regular speaking voice in their everyday dialogue. They're always angry and furious at something. #LastSummer is a yelling drama.

It would be easier to list the tropes NOT used in #WouldYouMarryMe.

It's a cliche to say that #WalkingonThinIce was an edge-of-your-seat thriller, bc there's nothing cliche about this drama. Can two people deal drugs for good reasons and get away with it? Should they? You'll keep wondering up until the last 5 minutes.

I still haven't gotten over #WalkingonThinIce. This drama did a great job of saying "drugs are bad" without saying "drugs are bad." Honor your convictions to yourself first.

#RomanticsAnonymous is a sweet slow-burn romcom about two anxiety-ridden souls trying to connect w/the world. They're easy to root for, as is everyone else in this chocolate shop world. Mental illness is portrayed in all its facets, and minus a few HIIPA violations, fairly accurately.

If you've followed my journey w/the jdrama #LearningtoLove, you know I was a bit obsessed, but I wasn't the only one. This unconventional romance demanded commentary & the wait for the 1-a-week 45-min ep nearly did people in. The show is best binged, and all eps are out now.

Were there nitpicks for #BonAppetitYourMajesty? Sure. But as someone who had no desire to watch it due to assumptions about the actors, historical take, potential cringe factor, & plot progression, & see them all successful in the end, I'd say it's a rather solid drama overall.

I don't get the comforting vibes people say they get from this show. That small town was downright horrible for her. She should have gotten back on that bus with her little backpack and gone anywhere else.

Bc I can't get enough of #LearningtoLove, I decided to try the new-to-Viki thai drama, host-centric #RabbitontheMoon. Wowsers, is it good! An island fling gets another meeting on the mainland when she finds out he's a top host who her client wants for a 10-day trip. He's pissed, for good reason.

One of my favorite pastimes is coming up w/crackpot theories. However, I couldn't help myself, so I had to check out #LaMante to find the answer. So, while I won't be offering up theories now, I'll start my 2nd favorite pastime: looking for clues from the writer. #QueenMantis

Say what you will about the mouse channel, they put out some money to get good American-English actors. (I'm assuming the American part was filmed there.) Also, the dialogue sounds natural. #Tempest

Is the first couple chemistry in #Tempest 🔥? Yes. Is the action and political story in this thriller actually thrilling? Also yes. What surprised me is the complexity of the characters w/their inner struggles. I esp. liked the spiritual element layered in.

In a bitter twist of irony, with the exception of Netflix, none of my kdrama streaming services worked in Korea. And where I'm at, you can watch new episodes first thing in the morning, but in Korea, it's after 11. How do you people do it?

Just got back from a 10-day trip to South Korea. Wow, was it hot and humid, but a lot of fun. And the food! Thankfully there was a lot of walking!

Not me begging mdl to promise me a happy ending with #LearningtoLove and everyone ignoring me because it's pretty obvious it won't happen.

#Butterfly is a Korean-English fusion drama w/great actors (recognizable SK ones & even the English-speaking ones iykyk) incredible action and unique SK landscapes. However, w/o these neat pops, show's rather basic & the emotional output & stilted dialogue sticks out.

Everyone in #LowLife is a greedy dirtball taking on a crime that's way above their pay grade. No one's sympathetic, but the situation has twists & turns & bits of humor that sneak up on you in this mostly laid-back drama. The time frame & setup gives us something fresher in kdrama land.

#TheDefects is a violent depiction of the heavy weight narcissistic parents place on kids to measure up to their demands in order to soothe their own inferiority complex & the damage to the kids' souls when they fail to do so. A taut, action-packed narrative that sticks w/you.

#LawintheCity is a laid-back slice of life drama w/realistic legal setups & interesting side characters. Bc of all the moving parts, some aspects don't get enough attention (middle-aged characters) or too much (the lackluster ML setup). A wrap-up that honors every character.

I've decided to give another weekender a try (#OurGoldenDays). My success rate for finishing them is 0.00%, so I don't have a lot of hope.

Like a fool, I started #LearningToLove with only one episode out, but figured it would be pretty standard fare and I could wait easily enough for the next ep. Boy was I wrong big time! The first ep. has enough twists for me to want answers NOW, so I wait for the next one on Sunday, like a fool.

The driving theme of #HeadOverHeels is the power of human connection to banish all sorts of evil. A warm tale despite its dark setting, show delivers a rich, dense narrative where love in all its forms shines through. The 12-ep. format held viewer attention, tho one may make the case for more.

#TheWinningTry is how I want to spend my weekends! What a great easy fun watch.

#TheDefects is a gut-wrenching depiction of evil, and that's saying a lot because I'm watching another drama with an actual demon in it.

I'm still thinking about #LowLife. Everyone in this drama is a grade A dirtball.

After 3 eps., "#LowLife embodies the proverb, "There is no honor among thieves", where 3rd-rate rascals & rogues try to outmaneuver each other for a shot at underwater treasure. No one has much redemptive qualities, but the draw is seeing where this twisty tale of alliances ends up.

I hope people are watching this because this drama is a little bite of perfection! It will surprise you at every turn! #HeadOverHeels

I think #LawandtheCity would work for people who don't like legal dramas. It's more slice of life, where 5 young lawyers meeting up for lunch & dinner is as serious as their caseload. Cases are fairly typical to real life, & there's a corresponding middle-age grouping as well. Giving HosPlay vibes.

#HeadOverHeels is a warm hug of goodness set in somewhat of a horror drama.

So, the first two episodes of #HeadOverHeels has great chemistry between the leads, great pacing, and a great story with some deep human truths. We've got a solid romance every day of the week now. Well, just this week.🤭
