When #immolation #marduk and #mayhem tour together, you know you are in for a treat. The NY veterans opened the evening with technicality and brutality. Marduk was unstoppable. Mayhem gifted tunes covering all its repertoire, with flair and a well thought out mix of big screen video and theatrics.

A few days ago, we promised more #doommetal This was correct yet not accurate. At #Tolhuistuin we saw #earth with Nataša Grujović & Steve Moore opening. As Steve Moore so eloquently put it, bands and crowd were there for the love of sound, the interaction of tones and songs that take us places.

Doom over #dehellingutrecht courtesy of #aufhebung #Coltaine and #faetooth The female #doommetal trio played at last year’s Roadburn, we were keen to see them on stage again. This was satisfying, filled a gap in our soul. Both openers were new to us, were really enjoyable. More doom soon.

We waited for #eindhovenmetalmeeting 2025 with bated breath, could barely hold excitement and now it's over and we have to wait months for another festival. Fortunately, this playlist captures some of the best moments and will bring us some comfort over the end of year break.

3/ #eindhovenmetalmeeting day two ended for us with the Swiss giants of #triptykon delivering a selection of newer tunes and #CelticFrost classics to everyone’s delight, and on the second stage, #sinister who made a rare appearance in their native land. Long live EMM!

2/ #eindhovenmetalmeeting day two. We finally got to see #nightfall live. Later on the bigger stage, #deathmetal OGs #Possessed had the crowd in the palm of their hand with classics from their genre defining #SevenChurches album.

1/ And just like that, #eindhovenmetalmeeting 2025 is over. The second day was a ripper too. It started with #highparasite #tribulation #pessimist and #grindcore forefathers #terrorizer They gave us a full rendition of their #worlddownfall classic debut.

3/ #EindhovenMetalMeeting 2025 day one ended for us on the twin highs of the #Absu grandiose Grand Guignol rendition of the #TheSunOfTiphareth and #hypocrisy blasting through classics and newer tracks alike.

2/ #EindhovenMetalMeeting 2025, day one. We got to see #ancient again after donkeys years, see #Hellbutcher at last and get blown away by the industrial hardcore sludge of #fange (NYHC meets early Godflesh/Pitch Shifter?).

1/ Incredible first day at #EindhovenMetalMeeting 2025! While Scandinavia was well represented, the palette of extreme metal genres was diverse. We had never seen #MörkGryning #AndOceans live until yesterday and that was a real #blackmetal treat.

4/4 The second “big gun” at day two of #soulcrusher was #bloodincantation whose #deathmetal incorporates and builds upon prog elements yet remains goosebumps inducing, bone crushing #deathmetal This was the second #AbsoluteElsewhere date in NL this year. Kudos also for the stage visuals.

3/4 The first of the “big guns” at day two of #soulcrusher this year was #OranssiPazuzu We saw them earlier this year at Roadburn and seeing them again play a slightly different set was like a delicious #blackmetal cherry on the cake. They had the venue entranced.

2/4 To be honest, the deciding factor for us to get tickets for #soulcrusher this year was the addition of #sijjin We saw them in 2022, they killed it. We love this kind of intense #deathmetal with a twist of Thrash. Their set was tight and so headbanging-ly enjoyable.

1/4 We attended day two of #soulcrusher in ancient #nijmegen The festival always delivers. Whatever you like in #extrememetal you will find music to your liking. This year’s edition was no exception. Amongst others, we really enjoyed #wyatte #oryx #predatoryvoid and #forn (great dual vocals)

1/2 Life is hard. There’s a new extreme metal festival in the Netherlands and we survived that one too. #noxoccultum took place over 2 days, we attended most of the second day at #halloffame in #tilburg Everything we have seen was good, our favorite acts were #badomen #necrowretch to start with.

Three #blackmetal and two #deathmetal acts landed at #WillemeenArnhem for the delight of many. They were #salaciousgods #castleumbra #kjeld #reverencetoparoxysm and #heimdallswacht Castleumbra and Reverence To Paroxysm played at KDTF recently and ended their European tour with this gig in Arnhem.

The 35th anniversary of #PieceOfTime is upon us. #atheist #origin and #gorgatron landed at the #p60poppodium for a high intensity #deathmetal evening that showcased the genre’s wide breadth. #kellyshaefer joked it would be his last show but nobody seriously believed that.
