My main problem with the whole Gaster / FRIEND / etc. thing is that it relies on elements that are clearly plot devices. I just can't see them as anything other than minor characters at best, they just don't have that much narrative weight on Deltarune.

If you ever feel writer's block while writing a novel, just write a scene of the protagonist getting absolutely railed in an emotionally charged scene and that tends to fix things
