DAY 31 - MELTED TIME This one was also made by only using vocal recordings and processing them to give them character and turn them into fire sounds. A fun reminder that if the style allows it, you can almost use any source recording for any sound. #AAC25

DAY 30 - VROOM! Only used vocal recordings as sources expect for the pad that plays from the beginning and a kick drum. Resonators and distortion created the metal chord! Made the transient a bit punchier by adding the kick drum! #AAC25 #sfx #sounddesign

DAY 29 - NUMBER MACHINE: MATH FACTORY I had no access to my libraries for this one so I was forced to improvise by very quickly recording different textures with my voice for the tiles moving, and creating a soft ambience with Phase Plant to fill out the space. #AAC25

DAY 28 - SNAKE GAME 100+ markers later… I wanted to add a pad to fill out some empty space and that’s when I realized I was basically designing sound for a Resident Evil game. Watch out for those Regenerators once you finish the puzzle! 😁 #AAC25

DAY 27 - TINY DELIVERY Time for more Phase Plant today, this time in the form of the cutest delivery drone! I used one instance for the engine/wheel motion sounds and another with Random pitches to create the little vocal blurbs. #AAC25

DAY 26 - JERRY KUREK Pops, keyboard keys, a pad and Valhalla Shimmer to fill out the space. I sometimes find it tricky to get the right balance with these types of sounds, trying to make them pop while also taming the transients. Could probably pan some of the hits a bit for a wider image. #AAC25

DAY 25 - THE CALL IT GRAVITY Designing any moving vehicle with acceleration is always a fun challenge. Forcing myself to get more familiar with Phase Plant, I used its sampler for two different layers on this drone. Also added some one-shots and automation to highlight the boost. #AAC25

DAY 23 - CTRL ALT DEAL It was pretty fun playing around with different textures on this one. There's a mixture of low rumbly sounds for the floor surface, impacts for the modules being dropped and Sci-Fi tones for the UI and dialogue elements. #AAC25 #sounddesign #sfx #gameaudio

DAY 22 - FAFA MOTION Love means a synth arpeggio increasing in speed over a growing bass right? It's pretty handy to use the arpeggiator feature on my KeyStep37 when doing stuff like this. Select a few notes and then play with the rate knob to adjust the speed and see what comes up! #AAC25

DAY 21 - JOURNEY THROUGH THE NIGHTMARE REALM II Tricky one to simulate proper gameplay audio as the number of voices would be capped in engine. If I spent more time on this I’d add sounds for the FX of the projectiles starting to dissipate and maybe one for when they finally disappear. #AAC25

DAY 20 - HELLPRESS The bulk of the sound was created by compiling a few plastic recordings and separating them into three layers, each processed separately by a bunch of FX in Snap Heap. I was literally throwing stuff at the Snap to see what Heaped. Is that how the saying goes? 🤔 #AAC25

DAY 19 - ROGUEBOUND PIRATES AHOOOOY! It would be so fun to collaborate with voice talent in a game like this one! This reminds me I need to watch the last episode of Shogun. ARRRRRRRRRRGHHH! #AAC25

DAY 18 - HWANG This animation was made by a 3D motion designer KyuYeon Hwang. There’s something about this prestige style that almost requires every sound to be so clean and crisp. Quite tricky to do in such a short time frame. Still need to practice a lot to improve in this style! #AAC25

DAY 17 - LEITNNOCHT Today's clip is from @leitnnocht.bsky.social a game currently in development which looks awesome! I used a couple of room tones for the ambience. One had lots of metallic/wood hits which I pitch shifted down and ran through Valhalla Shimmer for that creepy goodness! #AAC25

DAY 16 - Miss! This is what sound design feels like on some days. I was quite lucky on this one though! I've had a tiny basketball for ages and when I saw this clip it was the perfect opportunity to record it. I bounced it against a metallic tray/cup which holds my guitar picks. #AAC25

DAY 15 - A Lightning Storm I grabbed lots of electricity recordings and started layering them around. After testing out a few combinations I liked, I ended up separating the sounds into different groups to be used for each phase of the attack: Telegraph, Impact, Stun and Cool Down. #AAC25

DAY 14 - HUEDINI Time to fight a drum-playing intergalactic crab. The game looks pretty cool! On this clip I mostly focused on the impacts, trying to make them punchy and interesting. Halfway through the session I got hungry so I got some granola which I then recorded for the crab/ambience. #AAC25

DAY 13 - Retro Sony Ericsson We finally got the go ahead to share this one so I'm back! This is the last week of the challenge so I have a backlog of clips I haven't shared. Will be posting two a day until it's over. Enjoy nostalgic tones and handling noises from the flip phone era! #AAC25

DAY 12 - Fumble Bear Mostly footsteps and bear silliness on this one! For the moon door I used a few doors being opened/handled. The metallic texture was added by using Convolver's Cookie Jar IR. Couldn't resist recording a whistle for the bear falling! And some UI goodness because why not. #AAC25

DAY 11 - CYBRLICH Time for some booming and some shooting! I'd love to put much more TLC to the gunshots but I had to move on due to the time limit. Also noticed this is the fourth clip in a row that I record my voice for. I'm starting to notice a pattern 🤔 #AAC25

DAY 10 - Clockwork Today was a short break from horror, or was it? I used a child's recording for the laughter but it was mostly high frequency content so I blended in my voice which made me go full Happy Mask Salesman. I also used rooster/owl sounds to represent day/night cycle. Zelda? #AAC25

DAY 9 - A Twisted Place Time for some horror! I used a female scream recording to create the transient of the lightning and then an actual thunder for the lower rumbly tail. To contrast that, I ran my voice through Disperser which became the main layer inside the temple. #AAC25 #gameaudio #sfx

DAY 8 - Neurotypique Decided to get weird for this one and record my voice. Lots of pitch shifting and stereo delay done by letting Snap Heap's modulators do their thing. The same recording was used as a layer for the shape's movement + whooshes + recording of guitar picks on my desk. #AAC25 #sfx

DAY 7 - Kromlech Didn't use a lot of processing on this one, mostly selecting and layering/editing the right samples. Managed to resist the temptation of using pig samples for the enemy vocals (actually I tried but they didn't work). The game is Kromlech developed by Perun Creative. #AAC25

DAY 6 - Three-wheeler I mostly used card hits/shuffle recordings for the vehicle foley and start/stop points. Additionally, I used an electric toothbrush recording to bring the engine to life. Used almost no effects, mostly volume/pitch/pan adjustments + Bitcrusher and reverb on the output. #AAC25

DAY 5 - Only Lead Can Stop Them Time for some boomer shooting set in the Spanish Civil War. Lots of Decapitators and kHs Bitcrushers on this one! Also recorded some vocals to help bring the ambience to life and the enemy to.. well death. Channeling my inner RE4 Zealot. ¡Morir es Vivir! #AAC25

DAY 4 - Wings of Storm I used fire and water source recordings on this one: lighters, flames dispersing, liquid motion, etc. Also did the 'wobbly thing' for the boomerang projectile by using OTT, Disperser, Transient Shaper, Dist, Chorus + Vol/Pan/LP automation. #AAC25 #gameaudio #sounddesign #sfx

DAY 3 - The Last Delivery Man on Earth I took out Phase Plant for a spin to create the engine sound: two samplers modulated by a macro affecting pitch, distortion gain/mix and trance gate mix. I also added monster growls to the tire screeches for extra texture. #AAC25 #gameaudio #sounddesign #sfx

Had to pick apart my old DR-05 to see if there was any chance of getting it working again but the operation was unsuccessful. Not complaining as it served me well for about 10 years. Now I’m wondering if I should just get another one to retain the form factor or upgrade to a fancier model? 🤔
