I can think of no other obvious evidence of the virtue of diversity than the number of football players who have multiple countries they can represent on an international level. So many of the World Cup teams have multi-ethnic players, or immigrants and strongest teams have strength in diversity.

I’m a big football fan. Grew up playing in both the US and UK. I have been to matches in 14 countries. I have no interest in the world cup in 2026. Like so many things the US government has made onerous, it’s hard. Instead, I’m putting my energy into things that help my community directly.

I think there is a whole conversation people are failing to have about what their community is. Social media isn’t a community community is a group of people you are actively engaged with otherwise it’s just a group of casual acquaintances.

The crazy part of Bluesky is it’s great when people stay in their lanes and areas of knowledge and a train wreck when otherwise intelligent people take the bait and start sad flame wars.

Don’t take the bait and get distracted focus on what matters and continue to participate in the process.

This is why we’ll win.

I have to say the most frustrating part of modern life is how quickly we have shed the concept of feeling shame for saying things that make no sense. Being perpetually online means that everyone moves on when the loudest person shouts us down. How good you are at something and earning it? History.

I’m not sure who needs to hear this but there isn’t a re-alignment of social media and (some) big tech. It has always been a grift to sell us something we don’t need, this is just another sales pitch.
