loading . . . 1 Million Steps with Sam I remember my diagnosis day as clear as anything - it was Feb 14th 1996, and I had been at school. We were watching Oliver Twist and all of a sudden I vomited all over. Now, I'd not been well for some time but this? This was nasty. My nana picked me up from school and took me to the doctors - my GP took one look at me and said "she has type 1 diabetes and needs a hospital". The rest is history - 29 years later I'm still here and still kicking. Diabetes research is so important to me. I was told when I was diagnosed that there would be a cure within 10 years, but here we are. I'm taking part in the million step challenge to raise funds to help with this important research, to help find a cure and to help others with diabetes get the support they deserve. It's not an easy thing to live with - constantly thinking about numbers, worrying about lows and highs, carb counting, injecting, changing infusion sites, hospital visits, anxiety, lugging around supplies... Let's help find a cure so that those in the future don't have to go though all of this. https://step.diabetes.org.uk/fundraising/samanthas-fundraising-page1690
