After more than a decade as a book editor, I've finally nailed down the single biggest gap between solid writing and truly great writing. It all comes down to what the author DOESN'T say.

It's basically like cyberpunk with the focus on dreams and dreamlike states (hallucinations, simulations, etc.) instead of tech. Or like steampunk but with the focus on dreams instead of, er... steam. 😁 I wrote an article on this for Wattpad years ago, actually: cliffjonesjr.com/dreampunk
