Of the hundreds of various railcars and steam-engines that sit in the train yard there is a combination of workable and a fair percentage of out-of-commission, distant past relics rusting away. I chose to concentrate my photo taking to the relics. ‘The Lock’© CLHaupt

This image is of the No. 2 Machine Shop/Hall located next to the main Bethlehem steel mill complex. This hall is almost two football fields in length. For sense of size of the machines and size of hall notice the steps to the right leading up to the small platforms.

Main reason for my stop in Bethlehem, PA, was to spend an extended block of time photographing the closed down steel mill. I have show a couple shots already. This is a view of the west end of the steelworks which is almost a quarter a mile in length. #photography

I left Reading for Bethlehem, PA with two places I wanted to visit. First being Lehigh University and their primary art gallery, the ‘Zoellner Arts Center’. Their featured display-’Here and Now: 100 years of Lehigh Art Gallery, 100 Artists’. I found the exhibit to be extremely impressive.

Sept. 3, day two of the PA/NY trip. Drove into Reading, PA to visit the ‘Goggleworks’ Art Complex’ to see the ‘Sculpted Stories: Visual Narratives In Clay’ Exhibit and in particular Manor Mill art curator Brad Blair, who had an entry in this show. Love his artworks I own two of his sculpted pieces

Started the PA/NY trip Tuesday, Sept 2. All packed up I went first to an evening artist critique at Manor Mill. The artist meetup was from 7 to 9pm and as soon as the discussion/critique concluded I left for an inn just outside Reading, PA with an ETA of 11pm. Shown, me and my art in progress.

Last post from ‘the farm’, another photo of ‘the tree bark’. Moved the camera a bit to the right to exclude the mushrooms and worked a bit more with color corrections in the computer to achieve a more abstract feel.

For the next finished painting I had found these two ‘doodles’ on a same page in a recent sketchbook. I placed them side by side and started the worksheet to develop a design. Finished painting tomorrow.
