Principles are important - 12 years ago I bought my house, so had to give up my season ticket to pay the mortgage. I made games occasionally. The former owner came in & I was priced out. The last game I made was eight years ago when using a friend’s season ticket. Since then thing have changed #swfc

Not going to lie - shed a few tears walking back through the park to Hillsborough today, so good to be back! As for the game - thought we played well but the result went the way they all seem to be going. May have to play the prefect game and still get a bit of luck to actually be able to win! #swfc

After a hectic few months with the day job - back at writers in Sheffield doing a novel crit.

May just have spent the afternoon plotting out the world for the new series - I don’t normally plot too much but as this near future I need to get my science etc right - can you say dystopian chaos!

Had to give a talk at the day job this week as part of the what do you do out of work - last year I did creative writing part one (everything you need to do about writing in 25 minutes), this year I did part two (what happens after you type the end) - here are some of the slide

After fourteen hours on it yesterday and four hours this morning - it’s ready to go to the content editor

This Saturday is being brought to you from the laptop - I will finish transcribing the hand written notes today. So, just the 170 pages and 50 chapters left to go.

After a very busy time at the day job, getting ill and missing my first deadline - the hand edit is finally finished. Now it’s time for a glass of healthy grape juice before starting to transcribe it as it goes to the content editor next Sunday (eight days!)

Sorry for the lack of updates this week - the day job has been exhausting and shows no sign of slowing for another couple of weeks

A week on from finishing - the hand edit begins

It’s been very busy at the day job in the last few days so can I interest you in some cat photos instead of writing updates

Book five and series finished - first draft only but feels strange typing those two words. At five books and around half a million words, this has been one hell of a journey. Im happy I’m with it for longer and it isn’t quite over even if edits can get very painful at times.

I’m right at the end now of the book and series, so it’s time to choose which of the two endings I’m considering now.

I’m fast approaching the end of the fire series - just a few chapters left, and I still have two endings in my head, I don’t think I know which one I’ll go with until I get there and then I’ll trust the characters to let me know.

When your friend finishes book four but you are still working on book five, so you have to give her the very rough epilogue to the series so that she doesn’t kill you, the next time she sees you.
