Roll credits on Crash Bandicoot The Wrath of Cortex #PS2 THIS is how you make a mediocre sequel! It clearly tries to recreate Warped but simply isn't as good for a number of reasons. Yet, the core Crash gameplay is there and it is, more often than not, a fun time. Far from great, but not bad!

Returnal has the best 3rd person combat I've ever played. It's perfect. The rogue-ness of it is a hurdle for me Saros is leaning into more consistent progression which puts it high on my most anticipated list I'm still hoping they take the engine and make a linear game because that would be A+++++

Absolutely wild that they got Luke Skywalker, Sgt. Hartman, and Biff Tannen to voice bad guys for Crash Bandicoot The Wrath of Cortex. #PS2

I broke down and preordered Final Fantasy Tactics because I had enough reward points. I might even mess around and play it sooner than later. Enjoyed the original when I played it a couple of years back, looking forward to playing again.

Now playing... Crash Nitro Kart. #PS2 Finally trying this after having it on the shelf for a few years. It's not bad, a very serviceable Mario Kart clone. Only played multiplayer but there is a single player Adventure Mode as well.

Joining in on #RandomGameSaturday. Treasures of the Deep. A #PS1 underwater exploration game. I've only played the first two or three levels but it was a fun mix of exploration and combat.

Roll credits on Spider-Man 2 #PS1 Yep, exactly what everyone said: this is fun but not as good as the first. They put a weird emphasis on speed which doesn't work well with the controls. Less memorable bosses and almost no cameos don't help. Still, I enjoyed it. Good, dumb beat em up fun.

I finally beat this thing for the first time. Down to my last hit or two and needed an astronaut, but I made it to the third area. Still don't love the rogue-ness but Returnal's combat and movement are perfect so I keep coming back. Third area has a drastically different vibe.

Good, if entirely expected, State of Play. Great to see gameplay of Saros and Wolverine, the latter instantly becoming my most anticipated upcoming game. PS speakers and a weak God of War controller? Hard pass. Some of the smaller stuff might turn out but I can never tell on those. B+.

State of Play expectations: I'd be very surprised if Wolverine didn't get a release date. It would be a nice surprise if one of the first party secret projects was revealed. I expect to see more Saros. Not expecting any Intergalactic. There will be one surprise remaster announcement.

Now playing... Spider-Man 2 #PS1 I had a good time with the first one early this year, so it's time to see what the second has in store. Pretty sweet Electro cutscene to start, followed by a Stan Lee voiceover and Beast giving a tutorial. Loved all of the cameos in the first.

Roll credits on the Shadow portion of Sonic x Shadow Generations. Same basic setup as Sonic Generations but everything is just a bit better. Better levels, challenges, hub world, and bosses. Considering this as its own game, this is easily my favorite Sonic game ever.

Foxing is going on an indefinite hiatus! What a bummer. Nearer My God and Draw Down the Moon are two of my favorite albums of the last decade or so. On these two they really filled that anthemic, swing for the fences style of indie rock that has mostly disappeared.

One of my gamer confessions is that I've never loved a Sonic game. I grabbed Sonic x Shadow Generations from the clearance bin yesterday and the Crash Bandicoot style levels are awesome! There is a bit of QTE element as well, which is good by me. Excited to play more.

Gotta admit something Bluesky: The more I play Silksong, the less I like it. It's difficulty is just not my style. I was really digging the exploration and combat in general, but I can only bang my head against so many fights/areas for an hour+ before getting annoyed. Might put it down for a bit.

Roll credits on Beetle Adventure Racing #N64 Good, fun racing game. The standout feature is the massive tracks with many alternate routes you can explore. Cars and tracks to unlock, good split screen fun as well. Ignore, or embrace, the goofy license and enjoy!!

Silksong is such a uniquely frustrating game. If it weren't so much fun to explore and see what's next I would have dropped it a while ago. It feels cheap to me at times and some of the enemy designs are just mean. Yet, I keep playing.

My Silksong hot take (probably not actually that hot) is that all of the spin attacks enemies do which can swallow you and deal two damage are totally dumb.

Returning Front Mission 3 after a little bit (I got sidetracked finishing Earthbound). FM3 is really good. It can't be understated how much fun it is to blow up mechs in video games. I'm a handful of hours in and it's not been tough so far, so a laid back tactics game is a nice break from Silksong.
