Just a heads up. Keep an eye out for these play tests. Had a blast with this one. As an ex-MTG player, if magic the gathering played like this, i would still be playing. The unique execution of such an interesting idea is nothing but enjoyable.

My flu riddled brain was onto something yesterday. Managed to get multiplayer loot bidding to function consistently without errors. I wish my sinuses were as clear as the debugger right now.

Felt bad about not making much progress while I've had the flu, So I sudafedded up, popped a Tylenol, and got to work on some simple tasks. The 73 errors that popped up in the debugger suggests that was not a great idea. More rest it is.

Blizzard made a pretty good attempt at producing an Exile-like with Diablo 4. If they keep trying, perhaps by Diablo 5 or 6, they'll finally figure out how to put a respectable competitor into the genre.

"Did you know that the island of Bishop Rock only measures 49 by 15 feet?" Said the scope creep demon trying to justify its existence.

I've made some changes to the upgrade system to prevent players from trivializing the rest of the game by going all CirclMastr on it. But the fixes opened doors for some very big and beautiful scope creepy things. I can't take in anymore but it's so hard to tell them no.

Feeling like I could have made more progress today but my brain is telling me it's done... YAY! SHARK! OMNOMNOMNOM.

I feel like making a multiplayer game really helped me understand why they named the engine after "Waiting for Godot". Sorting out how to rebuild who in what scene and what they get to control has left me wondering if I'm just a blank CharacterBody3D with an input controller in another existence.

A bunch of harpoons help clear the masses but you can't let your guard down when there's an angry marlin nearby.

I haven't decided if seeing everybody's upgrade pics is a tool for good or evil. Nobody will have to prove the RNG isn't being kind, but everyone will know if somebody isn't making smart choices.

I don't think he fully understands my vision, but I admire his enthusiasm.

This is exactly what I was saying. Magic! This guy is casting hexes of the highest caliber. Artists are wizards.

Wobbly water shaders are great and all, but I need a bigger sense of motion in that ocean. And when you've got 4 people in a boat, it's important everyone is getting the same feel out of it. This is my procedurally generated 2D body of water synced across 4 clients using Godot's GPU particles.

Anyone promising to "Make something Great Again" is simply trying to snuff the greatness in you in order to sell you a substitute. I'm not buying it. Perhaps corporate greed has changed the face of AAA gaming, but the indie scene is beyond great and beyond capable of staying great on its own.

The most profound thing I've learned in my game dev journey thus far is that wizards are real. They call themselves "artists", but I'm not fooled. I haven't the slightest idea how to wield the magic they harness to turn ideas into visual reality.
